heyas
if you think having a computer die on ya is upsetting
try having 2 different computers die in the exact same way
a 19 year old crying over 2 dead computers might sound pathetic, but for a person who has major problems socially
its the only thing i got, its how i deal with my everyday life. now i have nothing
the backup machine iv been using just died, in the exact same fucking way
the computer was doing some real funny stuff the last few days, untill today when it did alot of them and then just stopped working
it turns on, but the monitor wont detect it. it was determined that the motherboard had died in my main computer when this happened
2 weeks ago. im expecting a replacement. but im not sure if i want it anymore now that this has happened again, as im thinking whatever broke this
will ruin my new board
im almost sure this is a power related issue, i cant think it can be anything else
both computer are connected to the same power bar, and both are connected by a kvm
but im almost sure its not the kvm as when my main one died, i tried directly connecting it
i think the power bar might be doing something bad, but that doesnt make sense either since the other things conencted to it would also be trashed
im really lost here, im hoping someone could help me out here
i do hope that my backup machine isnt fried too now, and hopfully you guys can provide some info on how to save it

No suggestions that you don't already know..
Could be a power problem, perhaps invest in a good quality surge protector. And, make sure the outlet is well grounded, maybe try a different socket/breaker.
Your data should be fine, so you should be able to put those disks in another box or ghost them.
It wasn't entirely clear to me that there isn't a problem with a bad pin on your monitor too -- unlikely, but I've been set back by more trivial oversights.
If the machine boots but doesn't recognize the monitor, it could be several things. Try adding/removing/replacing a graphics card.
Check for blown capacitors on your motherboard. In particular, Dell computers a few years back had a batch of bad capacitors which bubbled over and blew.

get this... i plug it into one of my other power bars
a few beeps on startup, i then restarted. THEN IT FUCKING WORKS?
WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF?
its gotta be this power bar, now im sure of it
believe me, i checked ALL of those things in my main, new psu, new monitor, new video card, new cpu, new mobo
i took it to my friend that has all these things lieing around for me to test, and we came up with my board being dead
no blown capacitors. my monitor is fine, im pretty sure as it wouldnt explain why it was freezing and restarting. plus iv been using it fine other than this
i know my data is fine, i hooked up one of my HDDs to this machine and copied stuff over

Hey im posting this for Xtyfe since he is having troubles.
" i swear to fucking god, something is out to get me here
something doesnt wont me to have a working computer anymore
IT DOESNT FUCKING END, I CAN NOT GET A BREAK
so i get my mobo i ordered today for my main computer, i take it to where i used to work
cus i trust the guys theres with my computer
they tested the board, with my cpu and memory and it worked
so they put the computer together and turned it on. to my shock and disbelief. IT DID NOT WORK
it did the same thing as it did when it broke, monitor would not detect computer.
i couldnt believe it, i was almost gunna cry. i tested everything esle before yet it still doesnt work when i replace the board?
WTF
there gunna try and trouble shoot it some more, but i feel that they wont be able to fix it
is there anything else i can do? i mean i cant take this shit anymore
this computer im using here isnt fixed either, i turned it on just a few min a go and the monitor wouldnt detect it
i restarted, it booted, then it lost and gained signal than finally it lost it totally untill i had to restart again
it booted, lost and gained twice, and returned to normal
i say again...
WTF
is there anything that can be done here, there has got to be something bigger here like god breaking my stuff

I don't know, but here's a suggestion. since it's a new motherboard, it sounds like a power problem. maybe the power isn't connected properly, or there's some kind of electrical problem because something is plugged into the wrong place. So make sure the motherboard is installed correctly, I believe you should have some kind of special screws with gaps or rubber , something like that, between the motherboard and the chassi.
If you hear it beep, sometimes the beep code tells whats up, for instance the memory might be in the wrong slots. Try plugging it into another outlet, listen for beeps (the manual tells you what they mean), and make sure everything is connected properly, all the wires from the case, the power, the memory, etc.
sounds like your other computer might be overheating, and on the new pc, something isn't connected right, and because of that, there's some power problems.
that's my best guess.. hope it helps

Hmm, there are a number of possibilities. If you're actually getting your power light to go on, then I woudln't think it would be a dead power supply (I'm not too sure though). Maybe your RAM is dead. Mabye your motherboard is dead. Maybe some setting on your motherboard is causing problems. Maybe your CPU is dead (although that is much less likely). What type of motherboard do you have? One Abit motherboard that I had for a Dual celeron machine ended up getting really fucked up after about 1.5 years, and I had to get a replacement in order to have any OS boot up properly. Ah, the horror stories of Abit motherboards...
I recently had a problem with this machene I just got, where I was fitting an IDE connector into an IDE channel, and accidently moved a RAM stick off the RAM slot a little bit, and it wouldn't start up, it would just make a few beep sounds instead of booting. Once I pressed down on the RAM stick, it booted up just fine. Sometimes the same kind of thing occurs with AGP video cards, if they're moved out of the slot, it'll just beep and it will not boot. Perhaps consult with your motherboard manual.

its likely that my other computer is overheating, though i cant do alot about that
the case fan is dead in it and i need to buy a new one
iv always thought this was a power issue, the motherboard is an asus p4p800se in my main
i got a the same one, p4p800se again through ebay
it WAS working before these people i know put it in my case, and they used my cpu and memory with it when they tested it
im sure this isnt a short caused by not having stand-offs in the right place, i even watched them do it
after we hooked it up in my case it didnt work, we tried a new psu and video card which didnt work either
im very sure we connected everything right though. there are no beeps, it looks like its going through post, all my fans and hard drives spin and my optical drives LEDs flash. its just very odd for this to happen on 2 boards
im gunna call these guys back tomorrow and see what they have found, i left my system with them to check it out some more
im sure there is hope, i will come back from this with a working computer in the end
i know i will
i just have to be patient
