Would a Quake 2 Full download be possible?

Since the code went open source, wouldn't it be ok to have a hosted download for Quake 2 ? And even if it wasn't, think Id would give a shit ? Really tired of Torrents : /

The full version of Quake 2 including both expansions comes with special edition copies of Quake 4.
(But the  brilliant folks at Activision forgot that the CDA format music on the quake 2 discs does not play when it's released as a DVD. Go activision go!)

For some reason, it's not illegal if you download all of the single player maps and resources by joining a server such as Vanilla and joining spectator mode for a whole rotation with map downloads on..

I dont know that the single player game will work once you have all the maps (I doubt it) and you'd miss out on the very few and overplayed video clips.. but technically you'd have it all.

Single player will work to an extent, but you won't see any of the enemies/bosses sprites, they show up as white diamonds, and some things get kind of strange...

I own every Quake game out there, even the orginal mission pack CD's.
