Hi, is there anyway we could get that snazzy little map changing number to play during the map changing on DM ???
You know the one that plays at the end of a match on the tourney servers.
I miss that little tune while checking the score in between map changes

Just bind a key to: "play world/xian1"

Then you can hear it whenever you want!

i always meant to learn myself how to change those tunes. im sure it can be done. ... i think ... Some random different types of tunes would be good. Some speedmetal, maybe a couple sad sappy ones to help the losers drown in thier sorrow.

LOL... interesting idea. Generally the tune at the end is mod-specific... And usually hard-wired (as far as I know) to just a single WAV file like "world/xian1".

HOWEVER, It would be possible to write a script that watched for "Fraglimit hit" or "Timelimit hit" and then played some custom sound. It could even play different sounds for the winner / 2nd place / 3rd place / middle / last place. Or something like that.

What I'd probably do is play custom sound names. We would provide a default sound PAK, but otherwise you would hear nothing. Further you could customize the sounds easily if you wanted.

I've thought of also playing sounds like Q3 does for "you have lost the lead" "you are tied for the lead" etc. Again, if the sounds were like "play tastyspleen/tied_for_lead" then nobody would be bothered by them unless they downloaded the PAK (or put their own sounds in baseq2/sound/tastyspleen/...)

I've actually fooled around with this concept in 1999, I changed the xian1.wav into a clip from a song... Just renamed that clip to xian1.wav, put it in the pak, and that's it. But you also have to make sure your clip is in a sound format that Q2 can handle.. With R1Q2 though, I'm not sure if the same restrictions apply.
