Or can be used to track how you use their own site, when logged into the site, so they can better serve you, such as Yahoo. No identifiable info is contained in them, as they wouldn't be able to collect such info. They may contain your IP address, but that's something the site can get just from you visiting it in the first place. Public IP's are not private, no matter what people might want to think.
