I'm not saying that I'm better than anyone here, or that I care whose dad could beat up whose dad or whatever it is that you're arguing with me about. I'm just pointing out something that should be considered when you wast over 2 seconds pullling out and putting away the nickel plated sissy pistol

Well chances are someone that doesn't use sound I won't have to fake out, because ill have the edge as it is (weather he is having fun or not, so am I, fun winning) and believe me, you know who is using sound and whose not...you grab mega and the person goes jumping by you, not even looking, or you pick up a gun right near em (you know this by hearing them) and they just keep on moving...9 out of 10 times, ill get the frag due to the fact I can chase to the point where im damn near on top of em, then it's ssg to the back of the head.  Fun just the same for me

Talking about fake sounds I thought I'd put this up in case someone doesn't know about it:

At times it can be useful to make a "silent" pickup of megahealth or armor (or any other item for that instance). It's not actually silent as you do make a sound from the ammo-pickup, but it might fool the opponent to think you got less health/armor than you actually do, or make him miss the timing of the mega or armor. Works with weapons and even quad, but it needs some practice to get it right.

Just drop some ammo infront of the item you want to pick up, then the sound of the ammo-pickup will make the other item-pickup silent. Nifty!

Not to get too GRE'ish on you, but when you state this relationship, that sound:aim/movement :: car stereos:monster trucks/race cars, I find many faults with the supposed parallels. In the second half of the relationship, I'm guessing you chose high performance vehicles to illustrate that simply adding a stereo won't help the overall performance, a "part-to-whole" relationship where the part doesn't improve the whole.

However in the first half, you equivocate on "sound" as an add-on to the skills of aim and movement. "Sound" was used in this thread NOT as simply whether the volume is OFF/ON, but as a skill, i.e., listening. To slightly reword the first relationship: listening: aiming/moving. This isn't a part-to-whole relationship either, but simply three different skills, in which one(listening/sounds) enhances the other two(aiming/moving).

That's the problem with equivocation and confusing relationships in analogies. In the technical forums for q2, sound literally means sound, e.g., snd_restart. Typically though "sound" in q2 forums relates to the ability/skill to listen to other players.
