HELP/COMMENTS?

I've been playing a little more lately and i'm finally starting to aim well again(was hard, 7 years on dial up previously). BUT, i'm still lacking strategically and i'm aware of all my mistakes, but i'm looking for some opinions of people who are more skilled for shits and giggles. Anyone can comment though, that's just what i'm looking for 

me vs striker (win)
me vs armor (I think that's you.. saw you use that name the other day, gg's) (win)
me vs playboy (loss)

Watched the str1ker and playboy game, the armor game got pointless after a bit as he just rushed you with blaster from the spawn. You played the games pretty differently though, versus str1ker you were

I tried to give some varied play styles. Yeah my biggest weakness offensively is close combat w/ RL. I still can't get the hang of placing them now.

I watched the demo vs ah, mainly because he is the best player within the demos - annoyingly accurate with rail, and extremly patient.

of course it's easier to watch a demo, and realize the bad decisions the player makes, but nevertheless, I think the following is true: when your playing duel (taking it seriously) you need to know what your best move is.

on low ping dm1 is mostly a chain game unless someone gets rail. if you dont get chain first.. try to ease your way in mega from lift get a chain and rocket back up.. then work on collecting 100 health, 100 armor and wait for him to get mega again. then time about 100 seconds on the clock to figure when the best chance to attack will be, you want to attack when your both around 100/100. this is how you defeat someone who is really good at holding mega. of course if they go for rail try to hit them with rockets before they get out. then hold mega so you can at least get a chaingun if you haven't already gotten one. once you get a kill its all about guessing where they spawned and rushing. sit in mega, after you kill them.. if you dont hear them at rail or mega you can assume they are on the other side of the map where they are probably going for the lower rocket launcher. id advise jumping down and spamming rockets at lower rl and then chaining. dont let them ever get chaingun against you if you have control, let them try to fight you with rockets at which point you can chain from a distance. ammo pack is also key for 300 bullets

You can always improve on direct combat skills like dodging and aiming.  For instance scooby is much harder to hit than most players and while he is dodging like a maniac he is also way more accurate than most players.

If you combine those skills with smart play, you can be a very formidable dueler.  For example, the last time I played pyrex, when I had control he played very patiently.  He repeatedly went from low yellow armor to lift to upper rl.   He timed chain and took it by dropping down and rocket jumping back up.  He waited until my mega advantage was low and then attacked with chain.  He retook control and won the game.

I also believe the things you do outside the game can really help like using the right equipment and tweaking your config for the best performance.  For example, if you're using the plastic mousepad that came with your Dell, you're simply not going to be as accruate as someone using a supersized cloth pad.

I know this post was kind of generalized and mostly obvious, but usually the player with the better aim, dodging, smart play, and setup is going to win.

I got something out of those logical strategy breakdowns too.

I always try to predict my opponent's next moves, and many of those strats will help me greatly.
(waiting out the MH a bit before trying to retake Mega room, spamming the water exit after they ran for rail, using CG to keep an enemy with RL at a manageable distance...)
