Yeah, the spectator list is a bit high. Either lower that or raise the player allotment. The console/wallfly is usually taking up a spot there, anyway. I'm not sure if that counts against the total.

maxspectators currently defaults to 4. And it's true wallfly is always taking a slot. So that means only 3 players get to spectate.
So... when you say "the spectator list is a bit high"... I think what you may be seeing is players who join and then walk away from the computer but stay connected to download maps.
When we notice that, and the server's full, we tend to start kicking the idlers... We don't have anything to do it automatically, though.

Also... forgot to mention..
maxclients is set to 15. If wallfly weren't there, maxclients would be set to 14. Wallfly is *very* low bandwidth, so whatever maxclients would be, we set it +1 so wallfly can get a spot.
The reason it's set to (14 + 1) is because when it's higher, the server lag seems to be even worse...

Our admin software is not running on the xquake server, but remotely over rcon. So without wallfly we cannot see the chat taking place in-game.
Wallfly is a low-bandwidth client (cl_maxfps 5, rate 100) that connects and observes only the in-game chat text. This gets piped into the admin software, so we can monitor the in-game chat.

I wasn't complaigning btw in case it came across that way =) Have seen that Wallfly on a few servers and was just curious what function it served is all, thanks for the reply =)

any more changes to players/rate/fps and the server gonna get even more laggier!! the fps has been uped to 90. its been a bitt laggier even with that little change ever since
