I have a few maps I want to submit for review. I'd like them to go onto the vanilla server.

Here's one for now if you guys like it. A quick little ditty but it is really fun with a lot of people.

Just to throw names around, I know that Burrito Master visits this server and so does Eagle Clawz. They'll be able to give you a good opinion on my stuff.

EH, this map is not nearly up to par, I think. The very first thing I would suggest after having made a few maps (raingod, zthrail00, zthrail01) is that you learn to map in a "human" scale. Tanks not only is jumbled but virtually unplayable do it being all out of scale. Now, what I would do... if I were you.... is really look into some good maps. see what works, see what doesn't, see how to make things realistic, then start over from scratch and see what you can come up with.

I will drop some links a bit later, but plz don't take this as an attack on you or your maps. It is an honest opinion that the fact that you are just starting mapping means you have a lot of work to do.

Wow that is roughly the dumbest mapping advice I've ever heard. Hey, but thanks for the insult.

Here's the concept. there are 8 starting locations that will give you massive health and massive weapons. Basically it simulates DEVASTATION mod without the mod. A 9th starting location gives you a quad but no armor. Once again to represent DEVASTATION mod without the mod.

It actually works great if you try it instead of judging a 10 year old 3-d engine based on looks alone.

I'm not familiar with the DEVASTATION mod. It's certainly an unusual map. I would be willing to make it available on mutant via mymap. I don't see how it could work on vanillla, though.

BTW, if you would like to upload your map directly to the server, that would save me time.

I understand what you're saying. It's not often I make gimick maps like tanks.

I'm gonna upload an old one of mine that's been pretty popular on my own servers in the past.

Ha - just checked out Tanks, since I've been getting back into mapping too. I must say - that thing is going to be a meatfest! Damn! Love the slick-texture half-pipe in the middle. I would agree that the whole thing could be scaled to be 2 -3 times it's present size (in horizontal XY only, not Z) ,and it would "feel" better.

I've always been a big fan of "gimmick" maps (Mutant -> mymap Fours2d +pu, yes, this is the third shameless plug for my new map today alone!)...so I'm not put off by anything I see in tanks, although I would agree it's far from Vanilla material.... and this is why you'll usually find me on Mutant!

And each power armor should be offset by at least one quad - it's only fair....

he KNEW this thread would be revied almost two years after he posted it just in time for your reviews!

gotta say though, I had peewee's map on my server & played on his, they are great fun. Very plain but very fun to play. Lepper with them is awesome.

Not a Newsletter, my friend, but a full-blown radio broadcast. I just finished editing the news cast, and it will be playing in about 10 minutes (10pm EST).
