RA2 Private Server?

I don't know much either, but...

It would be similar to ts's ra2 with the exceptions: Allow hyperblaster, competition mode on.
I think Quadz or CaRn would be able to hook you up with a .cfg.

Yes, TS is setup perfect except for competition mode & hyperblaster. You should also set it to 9 rounds for 'pickup' games.

Please don't use Carn's cfg... not sure if it's his cfg or server but for a lot of r1q2 users his server is very choppy in frames where TS glides perfectly.

I was going to add the ra2-match server this weekend, and the CPU was so close to maxxed out, I didn't feel confident that the system could handle it.  (That is, in the situation where a scrim was playing on the match server, AND regular pickups were still happening on the public ra2 server... I think that would have pushed us over the edge, with vanilla and mutant and railz and dm and tourney2 all busy as well...)

Anyone is definitely welcome to our config, though.  I've posted it online at:

What's this about the hyperblaster that should be fixed?

Normally you have to vote the hyperblaster into the game. I believe it's off by default in your config?

Update: Gator is kindly setting up the ra2-match server to run on his system.

So: the hyperblaster should be always enabled I take it?

NOTE: Gator has kindly provided an ra2-match server. 

I've linked it into the GOTO system last night.  (Along with Gator's new action quake servers, and catch the chicken and basketball and strogg-coop servers! )

I think for now the ra2-match config is probably the same as our existing ra2 server.  However, at some point we can edit it to make the "9 rounds" and "hyperblaster enabled" settings.

NOTE TO ADMINS: The regular 'ra2' server should always be public now, not password protected. The 'ra2-match' server can be password protected as needed.  (Maybe we'll work out some system for this.  Or just change the password once a week and post it here on the forums.. dunno.)
