I use that version of r1q2, it has the features I liked the best in nocheat: the chathud, makes it easier for me to follow the teammessages in teamgames and also follow the conversation in obs mode or in between games.

Right now I'm trying q2a some, seems to be working ok allthough it feels a lil slow at times. r1q2 feels very smooth all over for me, really like to play with that client.

i tried r1q2 again for the second time. when i use it, i have a problem with sticking to walls bad, has anyone ever said that before? Is there a known fix for it if it is a common problem?

As I understand it, cl_async 1 just separates your render fps from your client->server network fps. The only positive effect this has is reducing your upstream network bandwidth to the server. But it reportedly has negative effects of subtly altering the physics because the timing of the server's receiving packets from your client is changed.

So setting cl_async 0 is not disabling all of r1q2's other nice features such as packet compression, etc. You can still run protocol 35 with cl_async 0. Setting cl_async 0 just means your client sends a packet to the server with each render frame.

its the best feature of r1q2

most servers that i play on cap cl_maxfps at 30, so its slow for me
what kind of changes were made to the physics? i havent noticed a thing

yeah, I liked the chathud too.. so I'm happy I got it back.. even the clock is nice.. it helps me keep track of the time.. since I got stuff to do at certain times and all

You think that's slow? I play on a LOX server that caps it to 10! It's torture! Good old R1Q2 ^_^

The only bad thing that I really notice is when you turn left/right with the arrow keys (haven't tried mouse with R1Q2). It's really juddery, unlike when you walk along. That's pretty weird.

But the best thing is, when my bro and I are gonna DM with eachother with my comp as the server and his 2 rooms away connceting to me, when I load a map he doesn't have (which is quite often, we usually do this so I can show him new maps!), without R1Q2, with about a 1 MB file, his percentage goes up about 1 every second or so. Which is appauling considdering the network adaptors we connect to eachother with are capable of reaching 50 Mbps! With R1Q2 though it's awesome, it's like, 10 % a second or more! It's done in no time! And watching the actual KB going up as well as the percentage is nice for me, I like to know how big it really is.

So live on R1Q2! ... oh wait... it's a program... it can't live...

if you want to sacrifice some speed for eye candy
EGL has some features of r1q2 such as r_maxfps and protocal 35

Hmmm, I'm going to have to check this out. I've been sticking with nocheat for the chathud and clock, but since this has it I guess I'll try it out.

nocheat = teh suck
iv been using r1q2 for months now and will enver go back, not even for chathud :p
