On a happier note

DM4 can be boring at times, but I still love the map.

Pros:
1. Railroom Camping
2. Rocket Jumping through window to take out Railroom campers
3. Camping at HB railing the stair climbers in the open area and ladder climbers coming up to HB.
4. Rail and Rocket fights in Machine gun/Chain gun area.
5. Camping at RL tunnel
6. GLing fresh spawns going for GL

Cons:
1. Being Railroom camped
2. Getting cought from behind by Rocket jumper coming through window while i'm camping the room.
3. Getting nailed by railer camping at HB
4. Rail and Rocket fights in Machine gun/Chain gun area w/only a 50 round Chain gun.
5. Getting nailed by railers above RL catwalks and RL tunnel.
6. Getting GLed as i'm going for GL after just spawning.
7. Like Whirling, RA and Mega cycle

And like a few others have said, DM4 offers so many variations of routes and strategies.
Top Routes I take from most popular to least popular if I go on a route. I don't always go on a route:
1. Cycling Armor/Mega BFG/cells.
If I spawn in GL, Grab cells head to armor/mega, up the ladder, make way to BFG, turn left get cells, head to MG area and let go of cells, head to YA, let go of some more cells.
2. Grab Rocket pk then RL (or vise a versa) and make way to Machine gun area and let go of payload, grab extra rocket pk by doorway and down to YA letting go 5 more.
3. Grab RG, head back down rail hall, turn right, down to the machine gun, you know the rest

Everyone knows how the machine gun area engages in alot of RLs and RGs
Well my most hated route is:
Spawn in front of Chain, grab Chain, climb ladder, die.
Respawn (in fromt of Chain), climb ladder, die.
Respawn (in fromt of Chain), climb ladder, die.
Respawn (in fromt of Chain), climb ladder, die.
and so on, and so on. sie

Favorite moment:
Emty Server, Me and Gator. I'm coming from RA/Mega catwalk, I hear the armor shards from RL hall, He's coming up the ladder . SSGun vs RL and ladder exit. He jumps back down ladder into hall, thinking i'll follow, nope not today. He stays real quiet, I stay real quite, we're waiting each other out. During the intitial battle i've managed to posistion myself on the back side of ladder exit. He sneaks closer to ladder, he doesn't see or hear me, nor I him. Thinking the cost is clear, he comes up the ladder and KABLOOEEEEE !!!!

Im actually one of the few that likes dm4. The only thing i dislike however is the bfg. It really destroys any momentum a player can have. I can see how others dislike it being that dm2 and dm3 are such fast paced maps.

lol, DS, i remember that.      i did think the coast was clear, i didnt even think you could be there.  i assumed you ran towards teh ya\chain area cuz i didnt hear you at bfg or rl.  hehe, got me good.




and about the bfg hating on that map, there are TONS of corners on that map.  i feel like im almost always safe from bfg.  Many dont seem to use the bfg right, they wait til they see someone then fire.  Too late.  You have to either spool it up the second you hear sound and time it so it goes off right as you enter room, or duck around corner in a firefight, choose bfg, then point it at ground and run into the room doing the same thing, timing it for your entry.  Most people just run around with it in thier hands waiting to fire on someone they SEE.  So that gives tons of time to make one of two decisions,  1.5 sec if i recall correctly, feels that long, hehe.  You either decide, A.  i have a weapon in hand that will take them out before the shot goes off(rail, rocket, SS - if you try to chain, you better have some armor on ), or B.  i dont have the appropriate weapon to eliminate this person before his shot goes off, so i better duck around a corner, object.  Its not that difficult to stay out of direct line of sight with the green ball of energy, and hopefully the person firing it.

Dm7 - The Slimy Place - is the worst. Back when Quake 2 was new, the maps would just circulate in order from Dm1 ---> Dm8 constantly on every server. It was easy to tell which maps were liked and disliked. When the Edge was on, everybody stuck around and new people joined. It stayed that way more-or-less until DM7 came up. Disconnects everywhere. The only people who seemed to hang in there were kids. All the regulars would re-appear when DM8 started. I saw this time and time again.

I still just don't see what so bad about 7. It's one of my best and most fun. The SS room dancing, The upper RL campers, th GL to RA tossing, Slime Divers, HB Campers. What's not to love ????
