Expect and SNMP bash scripting help - not q2 related

i need some guidance, i'm trying to build an application, and not sure which tools to use.

this is gay, it won't hurt the application i am making, but i cannot get expect scripts to run on windows and unix.   i want this so i can click a windows shortcut and run expect scripts (log into routers, create .log files).

 i can type examplescript.exp in cygwin(unix) and it works, but i cannot find a way to execute this is windows.  i guess i could get windows expect, and it's probably mostly cutting and pasting, then i think i would have to update things in two places, and i think there's a way to do it the way i want.  if i could pass a parameter to cygwin, or a paramater (expect scriptX) to the bash shell itself it would work.  i can't figure out how though..

If worst came to worst, I'd think you could make a .bat file that ran:

  bash.exe -c "your_script_name arg1 arg2"

...or something similar(?)

i thought about using snmp.

i am going to use snmp for the things snmp will do, and use expect for what snmp can't.  snmp just feels like a cleaner solution, so i will implement that where i can.  it doesn't actually log in to the router, and it's harder to get the access with packet sniffed snmp connections.  not that it matters, it's also a few seconds quicker as well.  i need to send snmp gets, to grab some mibs and store them in a file.  is anyone familiar with a tool to do so.  i am searching, and i see things like that, snmp walk.. it doesn't help i'm using cygwin, i may have to get real unix.  if cygwin had an snmp command line tool like that, it would be great, because i could just automate a bash script that uses snmpwalk?  , and expect

good i will try this monday.  i assume even if it compiles and runs under cygwin it could still have problems though.  it's ok, if it has bugs, i can always write the script to run under real unix

wham son! for all of you who thought i was crazy, i found a bug with the libtools in cygwin, which was giving me the problems compiling. with an old version of libtools i am ok.

<rstory> centillian2000: excellent.. can you file a bug, saying that 5.3 works for cygwin and 5.4 doesn't, including the libtool error from 5.4?

so in short, i hate compiling things.
