Quest has arranged for a hopefully record breaking STACK, PILE, TOWER, LADDER or whatever you want to call it of Quake 2 players on the Sheridan server.

Who: We'll need well behaved players to bring their models and stack it up in the outside area. Some people to go spectator and take screenshots too.

What: Just join, don't shoot, and Stack up!

When: 9pm Eastern Sat 6 Jan 2007 *This Saturday*

Where: Sheridan server just type "GOTO SHERIDAN" from one of the tastyspleen servers or just "CONNECT tastyspleen.net:27913"

Why: To break the record

the record for all quake games was 29 i believe which was set in q3.

dont know the number, but knew it had been done a few times in quake2, couldnt find a website but surprisingly enough, Ral0s tower is on youtube!

Just watched the Tokay DM2 video and it looks like you'll need a really tall map to break records. One that will probably go to the maximum that the map architecture allows. I was working on one that had an elevator, that stopped at every floor, ladders etc but it won't be ready for tonite. Maybe in the future. I'm not sure City1 is tall enough and has the ability to jump on the ladder at any point.

i think city1 will go higher than tokays... but i dont know by how much

yeah a map that went super high with an ele would be perfect for it

i cant remember, can 2 people stand on one person? inverted quake pyramid?

Yea, Im not exactly sure how it'll turn out tonight ... but if it doesnt go well the first time ... we'll just try it again

As far as 2 people standing on 1 player - yes it can be done. I also believe that if each person moved as far forward as they possibly could, with out falling off the person under them, you'd end up with a human ladder/bridge going across the map.

Yea, we'll probably end up upping the timelimit, clientlimit, and fraglimit just in case someone decides to go a little frag happy

I think city64 goes higher... and spogsp1 is one of the tallest I can think of. It has an elevator that goes up 3/4 of the way...

Another map, although ugly, that might be good for ladder building is koth5. It's very tall, and a series of levels, sort of like a parking structure.

Yes, I believe so.

Also, if people position themselves properly on the ladder you could just hop up the ladder, right? Technically no need for an elevator, I'd think... as long as you don't mind the ladder being a "leaning tower"...

no high platforms needed if done that way.

just to let everyone know, I have a previous engagement that I totally forgot about

but I will be back around 8 - 8:30 ... positively no later.

I guess, depending how this one goes - we may want to try it on spogs? Just a thought

theres some 1 player ra2 map it like is just a single ra2player map that has a floor and then 2 elevators one real high and one super fucking high ..t hatd be perfect

ra2map11 The arena's name is "Vertigo" - It looks taller.

Though, not everyone has ra2 installed, although they should.

Hmm I measured the tallest spot in City1 in a mapeditor and it's not tall enough to break a record. The most you can get there is probably ~25 and it won't be easy as there is low hanging sky (not visible ingame). City64 has a taller spots for sure but... I think the real problem with these ladders is trying to get that many players to cooperate (duh) + the inevitable lag
