New to the forums.

Hey everyone, I'm new here.  I was wondering where the tastyspleen servers are located at.  I mean, I'm pretty sure they're in Texas, but where at?  Cause I always seem to get pings under 15 to these servers.

I've been playing Quake 2 for years and years now, but I was wondering, how many people still actively play the game.  I mean, when I search for servers now, it seems like only about 10 pop up that have more than 5 people in it.

So I guess I should introduce myself.  I've been playing as [mAd]Dr.Death pretty much forever now.  The first multiplayer game I ever played online was Starcraft, one of my friends got me into it.  Then one day I was over at his house and he was playing Quake 2 online.  The was around the same time that Goldeneye for N64 was pretty popular with my friends.  I was in 7th grade I think.  Anyways, I see him playing Q2 online and I just loved the game.  To me, it was like Goldeneye, except online, and with more than 3 other players.

Anyways, I moved onto Q3 when that came out.  Then I played TFC on halflife for a while, and then I played CounterStrike Beta 4.  I was used to teambased gameplay with CTF and TFC, but that round based gameplay was just something else.  With the realistic looking weapons and whatnot.  Anyways, I played CS daily up until the 1.2 or so release.

Yeah, then I took a break from gaming for a year or two.  And then one of my friends decided to open up one of those lan gaming centers.  And it was there that I saw Battlefield 1942.  Yeah, man, 64 players, tanks, jeeps, planes, giant battleships, maps the size of islands!  Wow, I got hooked real quick on that game.

And so I played the hell out of BF1942, BFV, and then took another break from gaming.  Then later upgraded the rig and got BF2.

And that's about my gaming history.  With any computer I build, I always throw Q2 on it, and I still play Q2 every now and then, especially when I only have 10 to 15 minutes to play.

If anyone wants to add me on xfire, go for it, just let me know who you are.

I always suggest yahoo's all seeing eye to find servers.  Of course others disagree with me, but mine shows around 600 servers.  Many of these are in other countries, but I'm pretty sure all the tastyspleen servers show up on there.

I use Xfire to find servers.
Its a great program in my opinion and has server lists and details of whos on them. (its always up to the min)
It has friends lists and teamspeak.

Greetings from long time quake2 player. If you do remember, it would be from playing on and chating in mplayer / gamespy. I am a former Little Green Men (LGM)  and WOD/HHR member. I mostly played in WOD on Elpaso, Harley's, Raptor, LGM serves, plus others. I was also known to dip my feet into Rail Arena, CTF, Freeze tag etc etc...but out side of these your best bet was to find me on the old Thunderdome hosted servers. But latey when I can find time I still play Quake2's Digital Paintball mod (Digitalpaint.org)

I am very impressed and have little to say as I am shocked to see this wonderful game being honored and preserved as it deserves. Thank each and every one of you.

Let me gather my chin off the floor and read up on this wonderful website. But, what I have read so far, this forum surpasses anything I was hoping for or seen. Awsome job admins!

What is the perferred method for getting anwsers in this forum? New thread or Thread revival? I ask because I would hate to get off on the wrong foot with anyone.

i enjoy a good game of DGPII also .

TastySpleen has a Competition Weapons server at "wod".  "goto wod"

There are some server commands, "goto" and "mymap" for getting server info, moving between servers, and choosing maps and settings.

if your curious there is also a rails community that is also connected to (part of) Tastyspleen threw the server GOTO commands called Monsterkill.  But has a whole seprate forum.

naturally some rivals happen between Tastyspleen and Monsterkill but for the most part,  most of us can co-exist on both forums and servers peacefully.
