Sconfig Server

Trying to get an idea of what most people would like for Initial Weapon Spawn for Sconfig Server.  You can access the server by "goto sconfig".

Current settings:

Hook - Bind KEY +hook
Spawn with Railgun, 10 slugs, 3 grenades
Blaster Damage higher (33 +18)
Super Shotgun has rail like kick to its target(200)
Grenade Launcher fires like a bazooka (1000 +400)
Fast Rail, Fast Rockets
Hyper Blaster Speed high (1500 +500)
BFG Projectile Speed slow (100 -300)


So far, this has made for a VERY fast playing game.  In fact, with about eight to ten or more people on, it becames brain melting fast.  Which, to me, has been the fun of it.  However, some have stated they think the Spawn with Railgun makes it too Railgun focused(my intention i guess ).

i actually like the server settings about the way they are, but i am interested in what others are thinking, and how large this Anti-Spawn-With-Railgun faction is.   If there is enough interest, i'll make some changes.

is there no "none of the above" option

just give the player a single barrel shotgun, 20 shells, and 5 hand nades
i think thats a little more fair, and people will actually have to go and look for a weapon still

The argument for not having so much railgun based gameplay is valid, but removing the rail from the initial spawn will definitely slow down the game, since players now have to search for a weapon before jumping into the firefight. 5 rail slug ammo, down from the current 10, might just do the trick.

if i wanted to play instagib id goto the railz server, this is not what i want to see in sconfig
perhaps the rocket would be a good compromise?

I believe that only starting off with 5 slugs will keep people quickly looking for the next weapon, and provide more variety. I feel that the rocket launcher could cause some issues because of the spawn protection: spawn, throw rockets in everybodies faces without taking damage, etc... could be problematic.

It's all experimental though - we could make the change down to 5 slugs, and if that doesn't provide the balance we are looking for, then other changes can be tweaked in.

heh, 5 slugs?  Who needs to look for another wep? Look for a target that has a wep, and there ya go

Sconfig is the funnest mod i've played in a whilw, next to WOD. But I to feel it has a little too much instagib feel to it. I vote none of the above. How about the SuperShot gun with it's massive kick. Now that sounds like fun AND atleast you would have to get somewhat close to your Target.

I never thought about the hook being faster, but that might be interesting. It might just make picking people out of the air that much less frequent though, which wouldn't be as fun

At the moment, I think the balance of 5 slugs is just about perfect. I noticed the decreased weapon time for dropped weapons too, so harvesting is a little tougher as well. Just lower the time limit back down to 10

Also, kta would be a great addition to the map list, as it's fun as hell with the hook.

added kta to map cycle.  There is a good selection of maps to mymap.

I'm not sure why, but the server has spawn slugs set back to 10... I was really enjoying the 5, and it seemed to be a perfect balance.
