No clue what the G3 dvds are man, hahah. I'm a big Satriani and MacAlpine fan. Vai and Sheehan stray from my style a little bit but they deserve credit as well.

Oh.. well, a friend lent me the DVD, "G3: Live in Denver"... And it's Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Yngwie Malmsteen.

And Vai's band includes Tony McAlpine and Billy Sheehan, among others... (McAlpine switches off between guitar and keyboards... shredding on both, of course...)

Even though a lot of Vai's stuff (in general) is pretty out there, I love the fact that he is a consummate master of his instrument, and he has such deeply alien harmonic sensibilities...

Hi ReCycled, I love your Clapton pic. Nice work, as far as shredding goes, well, a lot of those guys leave me cold. I find it hard to understand the feelings of their music and it kind of just sounds like a hey mom look, no hands type of thing for me; Just guitar masturbation. I would love to hear some of those guys play without all of that distortion and see how clean their chops are.

Ya I hear ya. But he obviously understands musical theory and the technical aspect of musical scales. And he is blazing fast. But I can't imagine going to a concert and hearing that for an hour and a half. Its only effective if you do it once in a while. He also had a quad guitar that he played for one concert - and then it was stolen after. I have no idea how you would get that thing out of the building without being noticed.
