Quad on dm1?

Incidentally, I originally only intended the modified dm1 to play on vanilla... However since all servers on ts.net share the same baseq2 directory, it ended up on all of them.

I thought it wouldn't be a problem on the tourney servers, because I think quad and BFG are usually disabled there anyway(?)

But if it's causing a problem, I'll come up with a workaround.  (I'm likely to leave the quad+BFG version on vanilla, though, because I think it's fun... Sow sioux mi. )

Because, my glum chum, when I first added it my impression was that I was receiving predominantly positive feedback.

The initial comments I recall, even surprisingly from TDM players, were along the lines of, "haha that should be an interesting change."

If, however, feelings have turned, and there's a growing contingent of folks who dislike the rooftop quad+BFG, that's certainly something that should be brought to my attention.

With NADML starting up I just don't think quad and bfg belong on dm1. 

If it makes the map more fun for a vanilla ffa, that's fine, but I don't think they should be included on that map in our 4v4 matches.

Rats, it would seem my attempt at humor was somewhat not too altogether happily successful.

Bluntly, then: I have no problem removing the tweaks if most people don't like them.  I have left it as-is so far because 1) technical issues make it slightly tricky to run it only on some servers; and 2) the earlier feedback I'd gotten had me thinking many players seemed to like the change, so up till now there seemed to be no problem.

I noticed you deleted your forums account.  I'm sorry you found my response so infuriating.  I wasn't trying to argue against your proposal, so much as it seemed important to me to provide some background information on why things are in their current state.

Well if you ever want to run your own server on a static IP, e.g. Elysium's Ultra Pure DM, or whatever, I'd be happy to help link it into the GOTO command...  Then you could configure it exactly to your liking.  The only cost of running servers is money and time.

as vulnerable as one makes himself going for quad or bfg on dm1, as well as the loss in health and armor from the grj, i dont see it as a big deal. just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to play whether it's there or not.

The thing is, dm1 has been used at the highest levels of competition since q2 came out.  The map is played internationally around the clock.  The same goes for the other 7 dm maps.  I don't know why id software's original dm maps have been so successful, but the fact is they have been, so I'm against changing them.  I know I just keep re-iterating my point, but again I'm not going to lose any sleep if the quad/bfg don't get removed.
