My 2 cents - there were assholes in the game then - there are assholes now.  And yes, the "wow this is almost magic" element is not as prevalent as it was in the past "doom2" era.  Hahhah I remember that - we have all come to expect things to work, when it does not, we are shocked - it ues to be the other way around.
