yeah Art sometimes is a little too smart for his own good with his 'typing in console' shit, sorry bout that. Just take a sharpee marker and draw your own on the monitor man, that's what I do. Nothing is better than a custom one.

To use custom crosshairs you will have to edit or make a .pak-file, so download
PakScape
. (I'm assuming you're using the standard 3.20 Quake2.exe which means you can only use 3 different crosshairs and only the .pcx-formats.)
-First create a new folder named 'pics' on your desktop and copy/paste the crosshairs you'd like to use to that folder.
(Let's say the 3 crosshairs you copied are called:
ch5-w.pcx
,
ch14-g.pcx
and
ch8-y.pcx
)
-Now change their names to
ch1.pcx
,
ch2.pcx
and
ch3.pcx
-Rightclick on your 'pics' folder and choose Copy.
-Run the pakscape.exe
-Click the 'New'-button (or Ctrl+N) and select the new green folder icon.
-Then paste your copied pics folder as shown in the attached image.
-When saving the file name it
pak#
(where # is usually a number from 2 to 9. Be careful not to overwrite anything!)
For "Save as" select -> Quake Pak (*.pak)
-Then place your new pakfile in your baseq2 dir.

but
when i type in console crosshair 1,2,3 the old crosshairs are in there (when i type crosshair 4,5,6.... the number 4 stays,..)
and the new ones dont appear..
what do you think is the problem or i need to do
thank you

old quake2.exe doesnt support more than 3 crosshairs
you will need to use a newer client, such as apr, r1q2, or egl

Yep that's right. So be sure to save the new crosshairs as ch
1
.pcx, ch
2
.pcx and ch
3
.pcx in your pakfile
. If you did everything right the 3 new crosshairs should automatically replace the old ones. (When you want to go back to the old ones just remove your pakfile.)
(note: if you don't see the
.pcx
extension in the names then just rename them to
ch1, ch2 and ch3
)

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
