I've stopped playing during the day. I play once every couple of nights now. I can't come into the server w/o seeing "wetarded" up to his same old tricks. I won't go into details here, as  not to hijack the thread, but you're right. If the kids are allowed to spam and mapvote, they will eventually run everyone off.

Incidentally, I got most of the config done on a 'projump' server over the weekend, which will give the top 15 ranked players some admin powers.  (Probably not kick, but definitely silence...)

Essentially, the idea is, the 15 best players will be able to enforce all of the peace & quiet they want.  (Silenced players can't mapvote, right?)

Well anyway, may be an interesting experiment...

Sounds like a decent idea, only problem is, that applies to the top 15 players. I'm ranked about 43rd or something like that, so it doesn't do a whole lot for me.  I guess anything is an improvement though.
 Do you think it's possible to que the mapvote something like on vanilla? That would rid the mapvoting problem. Like a mymap que system for jumpmod?

the top 15 and 30 stuff is bad idea, it doesnt matter how good they are at all. it just matters if they respect the rules and i bet most of the top 15 and 30 dont play as much as every one else

Currently I don't plan to limit who can play on the projump server.  That's an interesting idea, and if this experiment doesn't work out, maybe I'll try that.

I wish the blasted jumpmod was open source.  If it were, I would be able to take a more fine-grained approach, like limiting the frequency with which lower-ranked players can call mapvotes, etc.

It may be that this projump server idea doesn't turn out to be that interesting. However, I'm curious, so I'm going to try it anyway.

Since the existing jump server isn't going away (as you also noted), I don't see why the possibility of being silenced on the projump server would be that big a deal.  (Just keep playing at the current jump server, for example.)

What I'm not looking forward to is all the bookkeeping.  Having to issue admin accounts with passwords for each of the current top 15 players, and maintain that.  If I had source code, I'd make the mod handle all that automatically, and just GRANT the appropriate privs to the top 15 players automatically, dynamically.  CURSE YOU, CLOSED SOURCE!

Yeah it's gonna be a pain because i bet 10-15 will vary by week 

If you'd like I'll tell you which people will use admin powers responsibly. (and also have a basic knowledge of the cmds)

It won't be full admin powers.  I think that would be chaos.  It will just be, say, ability to silence, and, maybe ability to cancel votes.  And maybe to mark which maps are "good" maps, a few other reasonable things.

every one should all play on the same server because if new people join they would like some help, how would they get better if no one told them any thing? i gues a jump server that could do challanges on maps to see who gets the best time just for fun like the "race" map but that map would be good. more like a competition jump server and im not sure what they would get, oh mabye unlock new maps or something sounds like a good idea.

Nice Console. Mostly everyones friends w/ good players. it will help them stfu and jump once in a while to get in that server. Crit that thing w/ testing the players on good maps, doesent seem to catch me.( Cunt_Fuck beating hellfires in 1000.0 sec), it would take up ur time sitting there. But everyone had great suggestions and this looks like a great success  .

PS: Console, this was kind of like that Jump2 thing i posted long time ago, like i said. The good players need theyre own server, and peace to get better. then they will come back and crush TS jump, lol.

It's a good idea that.But even though I am in the top 15 dosent mean I deserve to be an admin.The only reason I wanted to be an admin is to make the server a better place when the kids came on to make it immpossible for others to enjoy a map and that.So I would like to give my admin to salamander,since he is a nice guy and not a kid and I am sure he will use it wisely.I am not really interested in havin an admin power anyway,just as long as the server/s are kept under control is good enough for me.I would have liked to have the power to fix maps as I know how,but there is others that can do that.That is not a hint btw lol.Anyway give salamander my admin or atleast give him admin aswell.

And as long as I can enjoy the new server aswell

critter just use common sense on whether or not to silence, it doesn't have to be so complicated. It is a rarity that someone needs to get booted, so just silence people that deserve it, the end.

Kingsize, the top 15 will not have any significant cmds, so it's not like they will have a large amount of power or anything. It's not a matter of whether people are deserving or not, quadz is just trying to make the server run more smoothly.

 That's mighty nice of you to say, thank you. I am not a kid, you're correct there. I'm over 30 (I feel old enough). I would be more than happy to help out, as I've stated before. I have a lot of free time day and night and would be more than willing. I did admin for around 2 years on a somewhat busy q2 server. I know being an admin isn't always a popular position, but if asked, I would be more than happy to help. I would really like to see the jumpserver be the best that it can be, I think it still has a lot of potential.
