Sometimes I see this in an online argument or whatever about 20/30/40/50/60..... year olds playing vid games.Do teenagers or younger find this ammusing or what,Like considering we were gaming before they were even born only with less good consoles,but leet in the day.Like Ataris,Zx Spectrums,Amstards,Commodores..well ataris were a console except for the ST the rest a computer,then came Nintendo,Sega so on.Then nowadays Playstation.Xbox,Nintendo,dreamcast.Why do kiddies find this as being an insult to us elders that enjoy vid games lol?Idk do you?

Most young people are surpised when I tell them my age on the servers. They think it's really cool. Is the usual comment.

Some of them have said they wanna frag when they are my age, I think that's cool.

Having been in the Quake 2 community for about 8 years now, I have seen many teens ,20's and 30's advance their careers, get married and start families. Its a great experience.

Most still have the gaming in their blood and return. Now, its I gotta get off this computer or the wife is gonna get pissed. Before is was, damn I have school tomorrow, gotta go !

This is the reason I keep playen , other than fraggen you guys !

And some, like Art, used to feed the squirells to turn the cage to generate the juice to light up the 5" CRT (green) on the wall-size console runnin a whoppin fast 0.0025 mips.... For a reference point a 1mhz Z80 chip (common arcade cpu "in the day") ran at a speedy 0.0285 mips.

Well shit - I just turned 57 and I started playing this game shortly after it came out. I got into Deathmatch when I figured out how to network 2 computers together and called over my 2 ten year old nephews, who found this a great outlet for their young male aggression. It was all new then and a lot of fun.

I also remember when the game was new that it seemed to be a young man's game and tempers and egos flared constantly. Its matured since and you don't see so much of that behavior anymore. Having older players in the mix balances things out I think. The older crowd has more of a sense of humor, patience, socialability and just generally a more relaxed attitude to playing.

Games are 80% of what my entertainment dollar is spent on.I'm 41,weaned on an Atari 800xl,spent loads of quarters on Pac man and Asteroids and pinball,and for the last 30 years watched as this new art form of game design has blossumed into what it is today.I'd rather have the personal experience of shooting my way through a good level or two than passivly watch 99% of anything on Television,which is swamped with commercials anyway.Anything worthwhile I miss I can always buy a DVD collection of.
