Yeah man the judge/jury of these games are bullshit.

I got my EQ2 account stripped of each characters money because my girlfriend bought a messily 10 platinum from a 3rd party vendor using my EQ2 account and not hers. So somehow they found out and took all the money on each one of my characters totaling well over 300 platinum (which I earned playing the game...). Stupid because I had just activated my account at the time and planned to play again. But now that I have no money... I had to cancel. So now Sony misses out on my subscription because they want to be a hard ass over 10 platinum. Oh don't worry, I bitched out my gf for doing that... fuck the fact I would of given her a stupid 10 platinum if she wanted it that bad...

All in all, MMORPGs get more stupid each and every year.

sounds completely obscene :/ they don't even strip gold or even temporarily suspend for something like that in wow, they just straight up close your account. It's the second strike on my account now, my first one was for calling someone gay in a battleground. the amount of people they'll have sweeped out with this completely unjustified ban is going to be insane.

That reminds me of something I'd noticed since I've been playing on a new Diablo 2 account to get myself back into that type of game before D3 comes out.


Since I had played last, Blizzard really came down hard on people using exploits, duped items, and hacked gear, and it has changed the way the game is played noticeably. especially for higher level chars.

I kind of like the way it feels now, with more people playing legit, although I don't see nearly as much PVP play going on these days as there used to be when everyone had hacked ith bows and such.


In the newer versions 1.11+ they also included an AC style system of checks to see if you are patching 3rd party code onto your d2 while it's running, allowing them to catch the very popular maphacks, and other packet sniffing and alterring software.

When I had played last, in v1.10, you could run the map revealing hack without fear of them finding out and it greatly changed the pace that you could level up with a character that could deal large amounts of damage over an area (like an amazon).
With the monsters showing on the map from a distance, I could kill huge groups of them with multiple shot from off-screen, and easily gauge how many enemies I had chasing me when I was gathering them together into a meatball to shoot salvos of arrows into.

not having the map fully revealed makes the various high level enemy killing runs (Baal, mephisto etc..) take longer as well, but I actually tend to get more out of the game this way.

The only thing that pisses me off, is that this anti-cheating system makes it impossible for me to run an incredible piece of software that I used to use to do magicfind runs while I slept.

I had a program called JED which allowed me to patch a hand made script into the game that would repeatedly run my high level sorceress with a huge percentage of increased magic item find gear, at one of 3 high level enemies that are capable of dropping the best loot. (I chose pindleskin for his constant location)

I would write a nice little chunk of AI code in Java, for certain enemies and locations, and the program, once patched onto the diablo 2 would run my character repeatedly and automatically through the script until I shut it off:

Most often I did pindleskin runs: first it would start a new game, then go thru the portal to the enemy in question, it would kill him and anything in the area and then check the ground for high level unique and set item loot.

If what was on the ground matched an item on my list of items that I wanted, she'd pick it up, and exit the game.

I ran this thingy on my computer every night for months, while I was out on the town or sleepin, and it netted me a few grand worth of unique elite and exceptional items that I sold on ebay after I had a couple of each for myself.


Now I have to do my magicfind runs manually, I dont find gear that's as good, and they're pretty damn tedious.
Especially now that I dont have a level 94 nova sorc with about 500% increased magic find.

She plays maybe 3-4 hours a week total... I play even less then that. On work nights it's either we sit on the couch and watch TV or we play a game together... I guess that isn't much of a life but what else are we suppose to do? We work '9 to 5' 'M-F' jobs... what do you do on a week night that's so much more of a life then us? I'd actually say we're pretty much the norm for people who work our schedule...

That the last argument I had with my wife was not about her getting a character banned on a video game. We generally play scrabble and go to bed at 9:00. The point is that THAT is more of a life than arguing over WOW!

Correct, games are meant to play for people to have fun. World of WarCraft isn't bad - it's just that if it is overused it may have serious consequences, which happens to most people, sadly. A week ago the new expansion was released (which extended the level gap from 70 to 80) and the next day there were ALREADY people whose level was 80. I mean, how crazy do you have to be to progress through the game's last 10 levels in one day?!

Understand that MMORPGs take a lot of time and effort to 'build' a good character and a solid amount of currency. Consider this... she wasted real money on buying 10 platinum for $15. I lost over 300 platinum for what she did... so in theory I lost about $450 if I were to sell the platinum I earned on my own through my personal play time. Yeah I most likely wouldn't of sold it for real money, and it is just 'game money' realistically... but it took a lot of time to earn that. Lets say... in your free time you build models... Your wife goes and crushes all your models... you wouldn't say a thing? Honestly it wasn't a big deal, you're making it into one. I just don't get to play with her now is all... More time to Quake.

Yeah I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt by not assuming that you would "bitch at her when she doesn't do my laundry on time too." Seriously Jager I take you seriously and I respect your opinion in most cases. I like to poke fun at you in a light hearted manner through things like comparing you to Razor or calling you sexist. Beyond that I generally like you.

So please understand that I was just extending the "WoW players have no life/girlfriend" joke to include you. You didn't ignore your child for 3 days or track down someone and harass them. And yes, the fact that she payed real money for fake money is worse than you extending a game argument into real life one. However comparing fake money to game design, such as modeling and programming is not accurate. If my wife inadvertently erased progress on MegaQ2 I'd have a similar response, and she would understand; this is comparable to accidentally throwing away someone's prepared speech for an event or even spilling a drink on someone's homework. If, for example, I miss the Qexpo AQ2 tourney because she wanted to watch a movie, that's not equivalent.
