To my knowledge, none of the servers force a client.  Nothing has changed.  There must be other reasons for you not being able to connect.

I believe you are referring to the 5 second nag message that is displayed to players who don't use it. Simply wait this out and you'll connect to the game like normal.

This is correct. 

Also, I'll try to make the message explain itself better.  I thought I was limited to a short message, but apparently I can make it use multiple lines.

Additionally, I'm told in the next version, we'll be able to nag only the windows folks.

Could you clarify, please?  Are you on Windows?  What client do you use?

By "lag", are you referring to the 5 second nag message?

on windows xp, im using a beta verison of egl. version 0.3.2
r1ch says he has to add support for each version that comes out
and of course, since this isnt official yet, its not supported

but yes, im pissed off that i lag 5 secs when connecting from this
this is basicly saying, "use anti-cheat - or i will slow your connecting time down"

the 5 seconds is rather annoying. pretty much was a deciding factor last night when I chose to connect then then quit because I wasn't about to wait... I don't matter anyhow so it's no big deal.

Oh.  Well before people get pissed at r1ch, you should know the nag message and the delay were my idea.

r1ch added the ability to print a message and specify the number of seconds to delay.

I could have it print nothing.  I could have it delay 0 seconds or 10 seconds or whatever.

Until I learn differently, my assumption is there's very little reason for windows users not to be using an anticheat client.  (You've mentioned a beta version of EGL, so that's one reason...)

I've had problems using EGL as well, usually any time I try to use "goto" to switch between servers. I just get stuck at the "you aren't using anticheat" line in my console, and then it stalls out. I type quit and switch my xfire config back to using r1q2 every time because it pisses me off to have to exit, click on the same server I was trying to go to, and reconnect then wait for it to tell me I'm not using an unproven anticheat dll that isn't even completely finished with developement yet. I would much rather be able to use my EGL effectively than be constantly reminded that people are cheaters.

I figured the line that it writes in the chat area when I connect was enough to remind me that I'm not using it...
The console spam and lag is kinda going overboard and it doesn't seem to affect all clients equally...

I'd say my major beef with it is that I no longer spawn first even when I'm the LPB 'cause it lags out my client.
That's just no good.

ps: I'm using EGL v0.3.1 which I've been informed is stable..

whirling, its a known bug in egl that the goto command on the tasty servers does not work

sorry console, i had no idea  but yes im i agree with whirling that any kind of lag is going overboard
if it printed a message in the middle of my screen when i connected, that would be alot better

I agree about the printed message. I'd rather have my field of view slightly restricted by some text and still be running around picking up weapons than be stuck in the console staring at text.

I was trying to think of any other ways to do this, and I remembered that other servers

Suggest R1CH add a cvar which allows users to skip the nag screen.  This would allow people who know anti-cheat, but can't or don't intend to use it, to skip the nag.

Personally, I'm thankful for his work and expect it will be a part of our next tournies.

Can a system be implemented that checks for the anticheat module/client/other stuff and prints out something like this in the chat area:
"player connected using: client: r1q2 version ####, vid_ref: r1gl, anticheat: no/yes, etc..."

I think it already tells people if you are not using Anti-Cheat or not.

I haven't tested it out yet, I have no reason not to use it from what I know. Last I remember there were some problems so I've been waiting on setting it up.
