What (if anything) do you listen to while playing Quake?

I have an MP3 playlist called KillShit

And on that I have a bunch of stuff,some hard rock(SweetChildofMine,SemiCharmedLife,Sabbath BloodySabbath),a bunch of rap(RealMuthaFuckinG's,Busta Rhymes),some "other" rap(Bloodhound Gang:Boom,Insane Clown Posse,CypressHill),and some stuff you wouldn't expect to frag to like slow songs by Alanis Morrisette,Enya,and especially Elyssium the song from Gladiator where Russell Crow is dying and seeing his family again.Whatever evokes a mood.And not necessarily an angry kill anything in the way one either...

When I play tdm I never play with music, but when I play FFA I always listen to music. Sometimes cd's on my stereo-amp or other times mp3's on my comp, depends on what time of day it is. Lately I've been playing a lot to pixies as I just bought the bossanova album, and that made me want to listen to their other albums as well. And it's indeed great fragging music, full of energy and catchy tunes to sing along to. Right now I'm listening to good old Television's Adventure album though, and it's equally great fragging music. A few weeks back Interpol was on heavy rotation. And before that I was listening to Pavement's Crooked Rain Crooked Rain (the newly released enhanced version). And the list goes on and on. And on and on.

Overall I must say that my ultimate fragging album must be Sonic Youth's Sister, as I listened to that alot when I just started playing quake2, and still reminds me of that time. Get's my adrenaline pumping, and really helps on my railaim.

Nice idea of a thread! Been planning on doing the same on q2players.org since i signed up there, but damn, am I the laziest guy ever? Yep.

When I listen to the song Ebony Tower by NonExist, I can't seem to lose.... too bad i get tired of it....

I almost always listen to music while I play, and lately it's been alot of Shred Metal like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Racer X (Paul Gilbert), and stuff like that. I think that my all time favorite fragging music is GWAR, if you listen to them or read their lyrics, you'll know why.

Forgot to say that if I was to pick one specific song to frag to it would be Godspeed You Black Emperor's "Blaise Bailey Finnegan III" (BBF3). The music is great, and the crazy guy in the monologue just makes it great to frag to.

I'm kind of an ex-raver kid so I'm an electronica guy.....I like trance/drum and bass....stuff like that when I'm playing.

Rammstein's pretty damn good for fragging, just because it's completely brutal.

If I'm in the mood for some brutal music, it's usually Emperor, Dying Fetus, or Napalm Death

I do that occaisionally to.I loaded the various models with distinct sound packs and keep track of them by what I hear and where.And my own sound pack can keep me in stitches when my game has me in stitches too.

I love music just about more than anything, but when I play the game, I want to be absorbed into it, so I want to hear all the sounds, etc. I like to engross myself into the game I guess =)
