http downloading?

Hi,
does tastyspleen support "http downloading" of maps from within the running game?
It should be considerably faster than the standard udp downloading, and clients such as aq2 and r1q2 have this nice feature implemented.

No, monitoring my traffic when downloading maps that I didn't have before shows that there is no tcp activity going on, just udp (of course, my cl_http_downloads paramet is set to "1").

once i got r1q2 it's been fast, maybe r1q2 changes the way you download maps, but it still uses udp
either way, it's much faster than regular q2 with r1q2

When an r1q2 client talks to an r1q2 server using protocol 35, you get faster downloads because the data is compressed before being transmitted.
We don't have HTTP downloading enabled yet. I read the instructions, but, it wasn't compatible with the way I currently store the maps on the servers. So I didn't pursue it.

Recommend downloading the beefy set of maps, textures, etc.. from
http://tastyspleen.net/quake/downloads/
That covers many of the maps you'll hit on mutant et al.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
