For now, you probably just want to rename anticheat.dll until it gets fixed.

Though console already told me during a game that this anticheat thing is not obligatory, I hope, it will not be so some time in the future. Reason?

Well, it would lock out us Linux users, because there simply isn't any anticheat.dll (or rather: its unix counterpart)! Although I sometimes still use Windows for a while, I would hate to be forced to do so in order to play on the tastyspleen servers.

Always been my problem with the "latest" clients like that as well -- no linux clients.  Prolly my grandkids'll have plenty to choose from though

a small solution to when it hangs up often causing people to have to fight their way out of it or reboot, is set task manager to "always on top" and then it allows for easy access to end the process.

I tried the new r1q2 with the anticheat.dll and suddenly when I connect to any jump server I get a scoreboard and Q2 freezes.  Only way out was to exit Q2 via the Task Manager ... most annoying.  I tried it on 3-4 servers with same result so I jibbed it.

I take it this is a known issue.....resolved?

Happened with me alot over the past day or 2. 
Although that happens b4 you get on the servers,  so might not be your problem.

Lo, fanny. Doin good thanks. You? I been recovered from the upteenth surgery on my right hand/arm and actually made it out to the servers a few times lately.

I got a crack outta the doctor's reaction to my next to oldest granddaughter (11) when she went with me for an inhouse office visit for a  minor re-open / drain / get the piece of stuff the surgeon missed and was causing infection out and she insisted on watching the proceedure. I thought the doctor was gonna croak.  He changed his mind though when she started asking intelligent questions about the proceedure, infection control, etc. I  told him the girls mother has a clinic and between her mother and my medic experience (terminated rather abruptly in '69  ) she had a pretty good start on her decision to be a doctor. Her current plan is to start a free clinic.

About AntiCheat:

It simply gives you the ability to show that you ARE NOT cheating, and that you have stock, unmodified files.  Without forcing the client, it does not mean it is not possible to try to cheat on the server.  i can't imagine TastySpleen would ever force a client on any FFA server, so dont invest energy in concern over that.  At its best, it gives anyone the ability to silence the whiners and show that you are legit.  At its worst, it hangs up on connect when ac is down. :/  As described elsewhere, if ac is down, rename the anticheat.dll something else.  It will timeout and reconnect without anticheat.dll if it does hang up.

It is still beta, so dont be alarmed seeing any problems with it.  This is normal and expected.

Anticheat is backup after a 5 minute power outage caused almost 5 days downtime at my ISP. Yay...

Next anticheat version I will have a shorter connect timeout, I guess most people consider it frozen after 60 secs or so, even though it's just waiting for a timeout .

New version is out, along with an official client/server release, b6808! Use the R1Q2 Updater, which now includes support for updating anticheat.dll if you don't trust the in-game updater .

Please use only http://antiche.at/ for anticheat files, other URLs such as the /pre/ directory no longer work.
