GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS.

We've upgraded some of the servers last night to the beta r1q2 anticheat server.

These are currently: vanilla, vanilla2, mutant, dm, tourney, and tourney2. (And railz, after the next time it crashes.

)

NOTE: We do not REQUIRE anyone to use the anticheat client. Anyone not using the anticheat client will simply show the "is not using anticheat" message when they connect.

If you'd like to help with the testing and try the anticheat client, you can download the r1q2.exe and anticheat.dll here:

Note, from what I read on the forums there, apparently an AprQ2 client with anticheat support is also available.

Also: when I use the current anticheat r1q2.exe (b6756), I experience choppy gameplay if I use ref_r1gl as the renderer. But the choppiness goes away if I switch to plain old ref_gl.

Anyway, I'm sure r1ch would appreciate feedback from anyone willing to give it a try...

aff, aprq2 works fine.. I use it.

could you tell us what's looked for modified?

Got it, works fine for me. I too use the ref_r1gl but with no choppiness or problems. And I like that aclist feature, pretty neat.

Interesting... what r1gl settings do you use? What's your video card?

I'm using a GeForce 7800 GT 256 MB, in a window, at 1280x960.

I am using the anti cheat with r1gl also. No problems with choppiness.
6800GT with 256 @ 1024x768

Already been useing anticheat for some time now and really like it.
Even before the Anticheat though, R1GL is very choppy at all map startups, and somtimes randomly after that. Usually at critical times such as jumping across lava or battles.
Funny thing, running real smooth then I see someone and it gets super choppy, after i'm fragged and the've vanished, back to smooth ???

But it still reports that i'm not using AntiChreat ???

Be sure you are using the r1q2.exe from http://ac.r1.cx/ and do NOT run the R1Q2 updater, the anticheat is still a test release and the updater will "update" to you to the latest stable version which does not have anticheat support.

One statement (ok, four) and one (ok, two) question: I really appreciate it not being required. As one who uses the old 3.10 (?) version with no skins and stuff I hope it never comes to the point I have to prove my innocence by using some anti-cheat just to play (tournaments, I would fully understand the need). I use just a keyboard for goodness sake and I would never cheat even if I knew how. I don't want to complicate things; just join and have fun. Other than telling everybody I use an anti-cheat, just what is the advantage? Ease in tweaking settings?

You don't have to tell people. They can find out by typing 'aclist' in their q2 console.

This tells people the liklihood someone is using any sort of q2 hacks is very slim. (Note, that with the current beta version, there are some known kinds of hax that are not yet blocked, but will be.)

So, running anticheat doesn't do much for you personally, per se. But it does help others realize they're getting beat by a legit player, not a cheater--which is nice.
