for some reason when i join the tastyspleen rails server it has my cursor on the screen and my crosshair....and when i move it it doesnt affect my crosshair only moves the pointer. Only on tastyspleen rails server...dont know about the other ts servers.

sounds like a bad setting in a config in your rails folder...

try getting rid of any configs there and see if that help when you connect again.
CFG could be in a pak file as well,...

just a thought.

is the rail folder a mod that i should dl seperate from game or does it dl when i connect?

each mod you play usually has its own folder..  like when on railz,  it puts dl maps and demos n stuff
in  quake2\rails

on aw rails it was in quake2\game
on tourney servers quake2\tourney
vanilla  quake2\baseq2


it does this on its own depending on the mod.
handy for having diff configs load depending on what mod you are playing

example,  the config you have in ctf could be diff from what you have for tourney or something else.
I just have the same thing for everything though

the fact it only happens when you connct to rails points to a bad setting in the autoexec in the rails folder
