Disc repair help?
«

Hey there.
My GF moved my xb360 while it was running and there was a disc in there.
On the read surface of the disc there is scuffing from it bouncing around in its tray. I picked up a cd repair kit and have been running it through the spin 3x now but to no avail. I really need this disc repaired b/c I have already forked out $69 to replace b/c I borrowed it from a friend.
Have any of you repaired what seemed to be lost discs before? Can you help?
Thanks in advance. Mark

That green whirlygig thing with the spinning handle and what seems like 400 grit sandpaper?
Never got that to fix a disk, EVER. I wrote it off as a gimmick.

I am now one step closer to it being fixed. It loads into the game but after 4secs of loading I get the "Disc is dirty" sidebar. That's progress, before it wouldn't recognize.
After reading EA's replacement policy, $20 to replace the disc seems okay. I'd rather try to make this work so I'm going to give it a couple more days of buffing.
Ugh $90 for a game after all is said would be too much. But it's soooo fun!

1) Send it back to be replaced. This is slow, but the manufacterer is likely to do it.
2) Use toothpaste, a little water, and a swirling motion. This will gently remove surface scratches. Be sure to completely rinse and wipe all tootpaste dust off.

Poll added.
Still giving me greif. I've managed to have it boot now....just when the thing drops into MP it finds a server, I can talk in the lobby, but when it loads the map I get hung up.

depending how bad the scratches you can put a good car wax liquid or paste just as long as its not abrasive of your choice on there a few times. and buff it out
or also they make this good scratch remover kit for plastics by novus alot of car buffs use it, good stuff.

Works fine and the rep I spoke to over the phone doesn't need me to accuire another copy so I'm good.

Oh, I know about prey.
Been waiting for that game ever since it was announced when DukeNukem3D came out. It's been too long since 3DRealms produced anything that was noteworthy on the market. Prey handled their return quite nicely.
At the end of Prey they tell you there will be a second one that continues the storyline because at the end it's not quite done yet
Tommy still has some more alien (_!_)'s to shove his foot up!!!
Keep guessing on the disc though my friends.
