How about fixing the damn thing? Start with fixing the time tables. If you can't fix them then shut down the server. If you won't do either of those then I'll consider requesting my times be deleted. I'd rather not be associated with this level of incompetence by getting ****ed over.

What is it with people on the dole who seem to view everything as a goddamn entitlement.

I'm happy to try to fix stuff when I can and have time to do so, etc. But it would sure help if you didn't assume I automatically know what in blazes you're talking about.

To answer console's question as to what the problem is, occasionally the scores for a particular map will revert to a previous standing. Example being one map that had 8 completes and 8 high scores, next time we visited that map on the jump server, there would be only 2 or 3 people who completed it, and they wouldn't be new either because the date still stands at 2-3 weeks ago. It's not an admin erasing the high scores because the old ones are still there, while the new scores disappear. I've seen it personally twice so far, first time being when Ax pointed it out to me.

sounds kinda like the "new" saved values aren't being written to the right place or the file
they are supposed to go in, got set as a read-only or something.
does it happen every time that the server makes a full map rotation? or at random?

If it happens every time,
the new scores will definintely show up on your comp after the server sends them to you, (while you are in the map and the score is attained by you or someone else) but once those are replaced in your client by the next values from the next map in the rotation, they could be blinkin out of existence cause they aren't getting saved to the right file/directory on the server. The next time you came around to that map again the server would read the old saved file (that's in the right spot) and never know that the values are not the most recent.

I dunno though... I don't know how the mod saves the values so I could be quite wrong here...

OK, thanks for the explanation.

Well the jumpmod scores are small enough in terms of hard drive space, it would be possible for me to write a script to back them up once every 4 hours or something like that. That would in theory allow me to restore from a very recent backup should the problem re-occur.

There is a technical problem I need to resolve before I can write that script, though... unless I run the script directly on east.tastyspleen.net, which I guess would be sufficient.

Since jumpmod isn't open source (I have no idea whether the folks holding the source code have any right to keep it private, since they're not the original authors of the mod... but that's another story...) .... since I don't have the source, it's not feasible for me to fix bugs in the mod.

Running frequent backups is about the only workaround I can think of.

how long is the rotation? would it be possible to back the values up after every X number of maps?
(after 1 full rotation would be cool, but they can mymap other ones right?)

4 hours could be a lot of high scores, when the jumpers are all on and jumpin!
