What is your situation?

1) If you are travelling, there are bootable linux and XP cd/dvds you can setup. These allow you to use any PC, such as at a hotel, friend's place, or on 6randma's machine.

2) You can pre-convert a set of demos into movie files. There are several routes you can take to do this.

3) There are secure remote desktop apps which would allow you to connect to your PC from any Internet accessible computer.

There is always a solution, it depends only upon how committed you are.

I'd probably go with #2. I deleted quake 2 but I still want to be able to watch demos.

Whoever generates the movie file, needs the game.

You could put Q2 in the user area of a different login on your machine.. so that you can only convert/play under that login.

Or, you could get a USB storage dongle, put Q2 on it - then you can lockup the dongle to keep yourself from playing.

Three suggestions for kicking a habbit:

1) record when and how much you do it, so that you can be objective/truthful with yourself

2) don't just take it away, rather replace what you take away with something pleasurable and constructive.

3) Involve those close with you in an honest way so they check up on your progress.

could make a cfg so that when using like demoplay to play a demo.. any key hit could only exit the game
