i got a new problem for ya'll to solve

my friends having a problem with an fps cap, hes set at cl_maxfps 90, however for some reason he keeps getting an fps of 59 constantly, however if he goes to software mode he can get up to 300 fps which is odd, it doesnt matter how low or how high his res is, in opengl mode he gets 59 fps, he used to get high fps with win98, but since he switched to xp he cant get it any higher (or lower) than 59 while using opengl, is anyone aware of any xp caps? or q2 related caps regarding xp? hes running a refresh rate of 85mhz, and has a geforce4mmx, can anyone help a homie out?

Yep could be refresh rate forced to 60. If you have an ati card you can force same as desktop in video options or use powerstrip to lock the refresh rate for whatever resolution he plays in.

Make sure he uses one the monitor will support.

This is due to a problem with opengl and win xp.

I had the same problem using my ATI Radeon 9200SE. I fixed it by installing the Omega drivers.

Now I can get up to 180 fps in open gl (all say woooooh!)

it was for a friend but he ended up fixing it, i just dont approve of receiving help fixing an fps cap from someone who accused me of cheating, because it obviously shows they didnt really mean it, they were just being a dumb ass and trying to make up excuses for getting owned

Just so you all know..Im using a 2.3 ghz e-machine...no video card..sept for the on-board one...and getting 59 fps.1024x768 Res. mooohahahahah

I get an average of 300fps, 1024x768 in GL on my PC!!!
(3.6GHz P4, 2 Gb DDR400 RAM, Radeon X850 XT Platinum 256MB, 400GB HDD (brag brag brag!))
