What is the stuff text 45787459809893450 $timescale that goes over and over, don't see this on other servers.  And I only seem to lag, freeze, get stuck going one direction on tastyspleen?

I believe that's the server's "Gaydar" monitor, and it spits this string out when it suspects there might be a little gayness going on with a particular player.

heheh  actually, this was answered in another thread (can't find it at the moment).  Something about the server's background streaming info that's normally not seen showing up during a hiccup or some such.  I thought it was some kind of bot check at first, but apparently not.

Hmmmm....

That noise is part of q2admin-17.43.x's bot detection.  Did you turn developer 1 on?  Yeah it streams out a lot of stuffs, especially at the beginning of the map.  I think the $timescale may be ongoing to watch for speed hacks.

These stuffs shouldn't themselves contribute to lag.  When you experience lag the best thing I can think of is to do a traceroute.  If I'm around at the time, I'll do a traceroute from the server side too.  Sometimes we get some backbone routers (often within alter.net) that have periodic seizures and start hemorrhaging packets. 

We are not altogether happy with this latest release of q2admin (except that it also fixes bad security exploits in the previous versions).  But again, these stuffs by themselves shouldn't be causing lag...

Thanks Console!  My netgraph seems fine.  Just like I get stuck going one way for a second and them it's ok, not sure if it is actual "lag" but that is the best way to explain it.

I get that too Husker..only rarely.Its a free kill for anyone nearby, but oh well I usually spawn close enogh to kill the offending perp!
