Um Ive heard from certain sources that q2advance has been hacked..glo-skins...wallhack and such...so thx...but no thx..burnsu[MOD].

Well considering the guy I heard it from, his job is to take stuff like that apart..into lil bitty bitty peices. I'd tend to believe him. FYI

Fact is, with so many supposed anti cheat software being hacked these days i know longer recognize any as being really legit. So if you have it, thats nice and dandy, but to me it means the chances of you being a bot is just as high as some1 without it. dont take this personal, this is just how i feel about it.
(ps excuse my spelling, its pitiful i know..im to lazy to correct it)

q2advance is the only anticheat still being updated so I'd say if you want a working anticheat, there is no real options aside from q2advance right now. And people always say the anticheats are hacked, and the thing is that everyone is right in the end as the anticheat is bound to be hacked sooner or later, but untill it really is, than you can enjoy some cheatfree games. Now, the anticheats may not prevent cheating 100% but more like 90%, and it makes it a LOT harder for people to cheat, as they no longer can just search on the net for cheats, they need to actually code it themselves, and that is not something your everyday cheater can do. So even though you hear rumours about it already being hacked, you shouldn't worry about it too much, if that is the case then the number of people using that hack is extremely low and you wont bump into them on some FFA server, they are most likely showing it off in some other mod. And if it's widespread then be sure that evilpope is already working out a way to figure how to stop that hack with the next release. A good anticheat is only as good as its newest version, and it's the updating of the cheatprotection that makes or breaks a good anticheat.

That being said, without or with a anticheat client there is no reason to be all too paranoid when it comes to cheating. To me the evergoing speculation about who is cheating or not is just as damaging for the scene as the cheaters themselves as that happens almost all the time on servers/IRC/forums etc. Of course there are times when you need to speak out, but don't attack anyone hitting two rails in a row

Hmmm... I have to agree with daelmun here about the cheaters... don't blindly accuse! All it does is make people suspicious, especially those who really don't know how to play the game well - and even those who do but haven't mastered all aspects of the game yet.

Those who don't know how to aim well (by getting their crosshairs into position before looking around the corner and using movement to fine tune) think that someone's using an aimbot. People who play without sound can't understand how someone knows they're coming around a corner - must be a wallhack. Those who just don't notice the sounds in the game think that their opponent must have louder sounds (I even talked to someone who thought that you could make a custom weapon sound ONLY for the chaingun on dm1 - like it was a "special" weapon - not realizing it's the 3 bullet packs that make it so distinctive when you pick it up). People who don't know how to strafe jump think you're using a speedhack and also probably think you have special jump binds for all those "impossible" jumps on q2dm1...

Anyways... if you think someone is cheating don't just accuse them. Spectate them first and if you're still convinced make a demo and post it. And if you're wrong, maybe there's more to Q2 than you knew about...

Ahh... i've been needing to rant about this for a while now..

a little off-topic but.... i just got back into the game after playing other shooters for the last few years. i used to play a guy named daelmun on the zone and gs. he was a good and honest player then, sounds like he still is. if that's you daelmun.... hi, and glad to see ur still playing. as rusty as i am tho, i'm gonna avoid you for a while, lmao....
