i'd like to add latency to myself when i play on my own servers. Pinging 15 against everyone else ruins the fun. i'd like to ping 65 or so..

Any ideas on how i could accomplish that? Ever hear of any programs that add ping? Or is there some way i can connect through an outside server that would send my signal out and back to create lag?

bastards...i used to get 60-70 now i get 90-110

I'm in southern oregon and when I play a server in cali or washington it makes like 5000 billion jumps....

Yes I too used to ping 60-70 to xquake..and as a matter of fact went there today..and low and behold I ping a 66-78 there.95-109 at Tastyspleen though.

Try changing your connect speed to something lower. That usually worked for me.

or run some stuff outside of q2, whenever i play on NYGANG edge i get about 20 ping cuz the server is down the street from me, so to keep everyone from whining that im a skill-less lpb noob (which i am

) i would run limewire at the same time, usually added about 20 ping

There's a way you could add more latency but I don't exactly know how it's done. My ISP is qwest, and for anyone not familiar with Qwest, they adjust the interleave setting on every single 1 of their DSL customer's at the DSLAM. They add around an extra 30 MS or so. So at your first hop instead of normally pinging around 7-15 or whatever, with Qwest, you would be pinging around 40-45 or something like that.

yeah, in my head, i am looking for a way to send my signal just for my quake2 to some place, and perhaps bounce it off that to go back to my server. i am looking for something client side only, because my servers are on this same line, i do not want to add lag to all the other server users too!

Are there any in game, or client side commands for connection speed?

There is rate, is that connection speed?

Always wanted a feature on tdm servers to make all pings the same as the highest pinger in order to make pings fair in teammatches. Talked to one qw player and he said that in quakeworld you can set it so all clients have the same ping on a server. Also would be usefull when playing NA vs Euro games, both 1v1 and teams.

Anyway, good luck on your search and sorry for not adding anything usefull at all

If you download the Eraser Bot (Google search it

), while you are using it's QuickStart to set everything up, there is a bit which says "Client Latency (1-999)", it adds this amount on to your ping. Then start the server without any bots, that should work. I don't know if it would remember if you then changed the mod on Q2 you were running though, that's the only way I know of.
