goto

I can't "goto". I used to ,only a week ago, but now I have to pull out the address book to switch over. I'm not having as much fun as I could have, atleast I don't think I am, what with all the "goto's I see typed in. Does anyone know why?

I've noticed there are certain times when the command won't work.  Some times for obvious reasons, like if there is a map you don't have and it is downloading, typing goto won't accomplish anything.  You have to be active in a running map.  Other times, it just doesn't seem to take the first time I type it in.  When that happens, I repeat the command, and it seems to take. Odd, yes, but eventually I get to go to Mutant, where Chatt/Heywouldya/Hump and Chakal (sp) proceed to promptly wipe up the floor with me.

How strange. What client are you using?  Alll 'goto' does is end up stuffing a "connect" command to your client... For ex when you say 'goto railz', our script turns around and stuffs "connect tastyspleen.net:27911" to your client.  It should be equivalent to your having typed the connect command in yourself.  I can't guess why it wouldn't work (especially not why it would suddenly stop working for you.) 

Are you using the standard id client?  Or NoCheat?  Or R1Q2?  Or something else?

every once in a great blue moon I will type goto mutant and it won't work.
it doesn't happen very often, but it has happened enough to remember it did not work

Ok not to say that anyone is stupid or anything, cause I consider myself a non-stupid person, and Ive done this.Not pulling down the console before I type in "goto".So are you pulling down the console before you type that in?

Hmm.. One thing I've observed is people sometimes say "go to" instead of "goto" as a single word...  Should probably just make that work.  But currently it has to be "goto".  Another thing I've seen happen is that someone says "goto mutant" (or wherever) right around when Fraglimit hit.  And by the time our script gets the response back, the player is already in CNCT state, connecting to the next map, and the script response is lost.  One other possibility is the response packet getting lost....might happen occasionally.

BTW with the current setup, it should make no difference whether you type the 'goto' at your console or use 'T' to say it...
