Good luck with your real life, but do come back and play some q2 games here and there. I myself had a similar situtation like yours in real life and took a 4-5 year break ( got married and spawned 2 kids, bought a house, etc..), but now everythings sweet, and I'm all settled, I can quake for the rest of my life You'll be back.

Ah Randy.. lame bitch didn't adress me at all, and I've known him since like 1999 as well.. either way this doesn't come to a huge surprise to me. 

Randy, until recently I never seen much fuss come out of him.  But as of lately, his desire to leave this game has shown.  In all honesty, It's sad to see him go, along with anyone else for that matter.  Good or bad, it's one less player in our ever dwindling commuinity.  Though is lesser numbers, a lot of grudges seemed to have faded away, and a lot of us seem to get along a lot better. 

In a sense this is a somewhat strong knitted commuinity now. Not saying it ever was, but to see FFA and TDM players all talking, helping one another and getting along (most anyway), has been one of the better experiences in this game for myself.  The good and the bad, everyone plays a significant role in this commuinity, basicly, befroe I go off topic and rant about the commuinity more than Randy leaving, he will be missed, and he will honestly never be forgotten like most of the past players we've all known from years ago.  As time progresses, I assume more will follow in his footsteps.  I was alos ready to make a silent exit about 11 months ago, and this tastyspleen commuinity gave me new life and hopes for this scene. 

Randy my come back, he may not.  But if there was a Q2 Hall of fame, he'd definately get my vote to be in it.  If some of you are confused by why I say this, it's simple.  I've known the guy for about 7 years.  He always played with heart.  His love for the game and his leadership and dedication thruout the years merits him this honour.  The game isn't all about what you do in the 3-5 minutes you're playing in an FFA game, or the 10-20 minute scrims/pubs/matches you play in the TDM servers.  It's also about what you provide your clanmates, and commuinity outside of the game itself.

It really sucks to see you go man. I think all you really need is a little break and you'll be good to go. You should definitely stick around on IRC and come on ventrilo from time to time so me and DaHanG can continue to entertain you. Maybe you will actually be able to stay away and be done with it for good, who knows. It's definitely tough, but I did manage to take a 7 month or so break back when q2players was starting to die off, but here I am again back playing. Best of luck in everything you'll be doing from now on. I don't care if you stay away from quake for good, but you better stick around on irc/vent. LMAO @ Slipknot comment.

I keep taking extended breaks now and then. sometimes for months sometimes for a few weeks.  But its more and more often. Just other things have priority.

but i like to watch things from behind the curtain.

anyhow good luck. you will eventually probably play in a few months once you get bored of all the new games

Heh, not quitting to play other games. Quitting online gaming all together, its just a time in my life where gaming has no place, perhaps sometime in the future i will come back who knows. Anyway this will be my last post on ts for a while, good fight, good night.
