Body changes while playing Q2.

I think it's common knowledge that merely playing a game like Quake 2, which involves relatively little body movement, can make some people sweat profusely, or at least get pretty damp under the arms. I don't sweat profusely, really just under my arms, but I do get a bit sweaty when I'm playing and really into the game. Also I notice, I'm like super-wired, hyper, like nervous almost after I stop playing for a little bit. Takes me some time to wind down, like my senses are temporarily heightened hehe.
Anybody else experience weird things like this during/after playing?

for me it's only the map. yeah sometimes I can get into those marathon sessions, but mostly i'm just there going through the motions.
when a map comes up that i like, i perform, when it's a map I don't like, I suck and sometimes I get mad at myself for it. Still, that is about as wierd as I get.
Although even I get those freaky times where I cannot seem to miss....but thank god they only last for 4 or 5 shots

yeah, the same happens to me. i suppose it is addrenaline. i force my self to take breaks every now and then to lessen its effects on my nerves. But, yeah, sometimes i step away from the game and feel like i just drank four cups of coffee. Eyes are darting around, mind starts going a thousand miles an hour.

I find that I have to concentrate on staying relaxed. I notice when maps change that I'm all stiff (and no, not there!), and it really impacts upon my aiming ability.

My hands never get sweaty, just my pits I guess. And I don't get too emotional playing, though occasionally I can get a wee bit frustrated. I'll say "wtf" to myself here and there. I used to get a lot madder, and try to force things to happen, and get mad when they didn't. As if I was the only factor in what was going on. I have a lot more fun, and play MUCH more relaxed than when I was first getting into Q2, or first starting to get decent. I just think it's the nature of the game is why I'm so wired after I play. You sorta have to alter your regular state of alertness and focus when you play. Have to be able to block out everything else, and not think about stuff, just react I guess. Well maybe a little bit of thinking, but no debating on what to do next, just quick decisions, etc. Something I noticed after playing a bit last night, and didn't recall seeing it talked about before, the calm-down period after playing for a while, not the sweatiness.

For me, I try not to focus on one target. Its like Im looking at the room but not the contents of it..directly..Its like those pictures where you have to not focus to see the picture.Thats when Im at my best is when I can get that to happen.Even when firing at a target Im usually not looking at it directly..I might be looking at the guy behind the current target..or some ammo I might go after..or gun...etc.Its hard to explain, but thats how it works.[In my head anyways]

When I first got involved with video game tournament play - you know, the little yellow guy running around? - I used to go to sleep after a match with my wrist so sore I could barely stand to touch it. I also dreamed about the mazes - in them - being chased by monsters and I would run patterns over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and.... you get the idea. I guess you could say I was just a tad emotionally involved
Not that I'd ever get *too* 'involved' in a game, of course, although Time Pilot '84 does come to mind from time to time.....
Anyway - years and a couple of bi-lateral hand operations later - not really connected to the gameplay - it's about all I can do to move those wrists much less sweat
Before the ops though, I found myself in the same arena as before - dreaming of maps, monsters and guns...
I guess it's all part of "getting into it"

Yeah, that happens to me sometimes.
The other night I dreamed I was on a quake map in real life, running around with a rocket launcher. It was awesome. The really cool part was that I was winning.

I dont dream of being in a map of q2...its more like a cityscape.A collection of the lager maps in q2 and the cities Ive been to in real life seem to merge. Its weird, but also so cool to walk around in and explore.

I get the sweaty palms from gripping my mouse for hours on end, but what bothers me the most is
that cool bead of sweat that runs down my side every so often, as my pit-sweat loses its ability to hold
on to my underarm hairs. I think this is when gravity and mass finally get the better of surface tension...
on the subject of dreaming, I have the occasional runnin-gunnin dream, but the ones that worried me the most
were back when I played CS for 10 hours a night. When I finally got to bed, I'd be seeing peoples names pop up
in the center of my vision, while dreaming, as if I'd moused over them with the crosshair. If one of my friends was in
the dream, it was usually their callsign too... creepy.
There's also nothing quite so strange as turning around in a dream
and seeing a flashbang roll around a corner and BOOM! you're blind for a couple seconds.

May 22nd!
I normaly can't get into my game. I have to listen to random whines and sighs coming from the other side of the bedroom.
Two more days till she's back to college! Then it's back to my other girlfriend, Q2.
