Console gets flooded with error messages when viewing certain models

Is anybody else getting error messages when a player is using the "shark" model? There are a few models that fill up my console with messages about missing files for certain models. It gets anoying at times because I can't read what people are saying in the game. Anyone know a way to prevent this other then removing the model and turning off downloads?

Shark, flying bot, sometimes a couple others. The funny thing is, at least for me, it's not a consitent thing - or at least I haven't noticed if it was.

What I do is replace the offending model with one that doesn't fill the console with missing oldframe hell.Just be sure to rename the skins to what the game thinks are being used by the bad model and that should work. A lot of these models that are based on the strogg single player bits were never supposed to be used for dm-ing and don't have the appropiate animations. I think of it as an opportunity to get some of the little used models I have in circulation since people insist on using the bad ones.Love that human nature!Striving for new ways of being annoying.

I just erase the offending model from my players folder.I dont like the shark anyways...to hard to hit, just like the Alien.

I tired that,but the model would just re-download itself again,even if I forgotten to rename the skin with a different tris.mdl2 to replace itIts a bother to do,but I'd rather not stop downloading models and skins that I do want.

Me too.  I want to keep the downloads on

Renaming is not necessary since all the q2 models are called "tris"  Just copy a tris from a good working model from another folder into the bad model folder and overwrite it.  You don't even have to worry about the skins if you don't want to.  Makes for some interesting model skin combos

re:  player skins...I don't like displaying any of the custom skins.  I turned downloading off.  I find it skews the bounding box zone so I don't know where to aim, and my aim is bad enough as it is.

Lol ok going back to the console flooding problem. The problem is that the shark model/skin was ripped straight from the single player .pak file and into the multiplayer game.

What this means? Basically since it was just thrown into the multiplayer game and not remodeled or edited beforehand, it does not contain the same amount of animations as a normal multuiplayer model should. A normal model contains a certain amount of animations, and if a model does not, then it causes errors to appear when the game is trying to make the model do something it cant. Not really as complicated as it sounds. Basically the shark and a few other models are "incomplete" in their animations list and quake2 does not like that when its in a multiplayer game.

How to fix this? First off you can delete the model and turn automatic downloading off. Second, you can delete the shark folder inside your players directory and make a copy of the male folder and rename it shark or what ever the original folder was called. This prevents you from re-downloading the folder again, so you can still keep downloads turned on . Third, switching to opengl fixed this problem for me but then again some of you may already be using opengl or may not have the requirements for it. if not, then plz try the previous 2 steps. If you are not using opengl and are capable of doing so plz give it a try.

Its those damn single-player-monter-model type pieces of shit that give me crap. At least I know when someone is nearby - it only gives errors when theyre nearby! 
It fucks up the whole console!   
But really, I hate stupid models  - that enforcer model also sux - it has no death animation so u dunno when players using the skin are dead or not.
