Aloha!

I've set up two new TDM servers, each with its own charter:

tdm-novice This is a n00b-friendly server. Unfriendly folks not welcome.

tdm-noalias Here, you can expect admins to change your name if you come in aliased.

The other servers, tourney, tourney2, and tourney4, all remain unchanged. You are allowed to alias. Admins should only intervene if they suspect hax, or if a player is causing a disruption of gameplay.

On the new servers, admins may be a lot more strict about etiquette than on traditional tastyspleen servers.

A definition of "disrupting game play" is prolly in order as some will excercise malicious compliance. IE "player so and so was aliased and that is disrupting to me" or "player so and so was disrupting gameplay by talking to much" etc

no admin has done anything over there boundries exept dahang so if u took his ref status away then we probably dont need to worry about those little things

Since it's the lowest pinging servers for us Eurpeans I prefer it being available for everyone as it is at the moment.

Else, good idea with levelled servers, hope it works

I like the idea of novice/sport/pro servers...

However, the reason I only added two new servers (novice, noalias) is because we are really pushing the limits of what this CPU can handle. So I picked two specific servers I hoped might address some apparently pressing issues.

tastyspleen.net is basically maxxed out. east.tastyspleen.net may be as well; it's not my server, so I'll have to ask the owner.

I will never ask for donations for the existing tastyspleen.net hardware; it will always be free. Currently that hardware is supporting 17 quake2 servers and 1 quakeworld and 1 warsow server, plus the web accounts, and the forums. Of course, it can't handle all those servers busy at once.

It can handle 5 or 6 busy servers at once. It usually copes pretty well, although last night we were seeing some lag, as more servers than usual were active. (But it's great to see that much q2 being played

)

I wish I could afford an additional box to run more servers, but I can't. If we were to pursue an additional box to run more servers, I'd have to look into donations... something I've been trying to avoid. It would still be non-profit; just to cover the new hardware costs. But anyway...

So that's the long-winded answer of why I only put up two servers.

Ah, I felt the lag yesterday. I thought it was just me.

We'll leave it at this then, this is fine. We can keep the tourney (1, 2, 4) servers for general pickups and tourney matches.

=]

Although, I do wish we could play other maps besides q2dm1.

q2dm1 is really good for when you're alone on a server and you wanna practice jumps or a /few/ pickup games on it. but the repetitiveness of it gets really dull and boring.

how about replacing servers that nobody plays on. such as

RA2, TS500 (until the next one) ,goatass, sheridan, wallhackers, gumby etc..
