it would help not to overanalyze everything when the sollutions are very simple. Dahang didn't do anything drastically wrong. So, if you don't really care: let him have it still, if you don't want to tollerate it: take it away from him. I don't think he'll be too devastated if you take his referee abilities away

Frankly, I would love to find solutions to several issues with the tourney servers.

- i'd like to have a TDM server that's n00b-friendly.
- i'd like to keep the "general admission" ones where people can alias,
and admins only intervene in case of hax or severe disruption.
- i'd like maybe to see a server that's more in line with what I think
DaHanG's vision is, as far as low tolerance for people being jerks,
and perhaps disallowing aliasing.

Right now, we've only got the middle one. I'm not sure all these issues can be solved by fine-tuning admin behavior with just the existing servers, because some of these things are mutually exclusive.

I'm open to ideas. Maybe I should just create a couple new tourney servers with their own rules, and see what happens.

I would just like to take this opportunity to post something only marginally related to the subject.

I have never used the word "chumps" in my life, except when I did and it was well deserved. user is my "alias", but I only have the one q2 alias, so user is it, get it?

Whoever this poser user is needs to not use my alias and go back to being Player or whatever else....but user is mine!

Actually....just glad to know why everyone thought I was someone else aside from myself who they don't know, but thought they knew better than they really did because it was me and not someone else. Yes, that makes sense....no I don't know why.

hang will immediatley change my name to granny when he joins the server if im aliased, which i could careless since im always gonna win anyways but there's no reason for him to do this to certain ppl but not to ANY of the people he likes. These are not actions of an admin to me..

btw how is shittalking 0% of q2? when do u see ppl laugh the most? id have to say during the shit talking which makes the outcome of the game much more exciting since 1 or both of the players insists they will win.

set referee password a -- novice tourney server
set referee password b -- intermediate tourney server
set referee password c -- high skill level tourney server

give a, b, and c to the select amount that you trust at that skill level, that also frequently play tdm. If these servers were segregated by skill level I doubt higher skill level players would go to team w/ newbs, and they could have funner pick up games, and vise versa. It's a good idea to make a more novice server for people to learn on and not spoil the fun for the players that actually know what they're doing. --Just a suggestion, that way disgression can play a role (not significantly) and it won't be as strict as a single tastyspleen policy.

The hardest part about being an "Admin" is leaving the personal bias out of your decisions (damn hard to do, and why you cannot make snap decisions). I personally dislike the EGO self absorbed behavior that is displayed by several folks but I cannot act any different towards those than anyone else and on the 1 occasion where I did several months ago an apology to the person I acted on was owed and given.

We at TS take a mostly hands off approach (as I have said many times) to many things some find annoying ie aliasing, shit talking, general PITA type behaviour. I am for no aliases in a sanctioned tourney match (unless you signed up that way), but any other time I dont care who it is. If an aliased players spanks you and then un-aliases and talks about I pwned so and so, they you get pissed, the only wins that matter (IMO) are the sanctioned ones all others are just fun and have no bearing on anything. If an ego is so fragile that some one can get under your skin in a pickup game then I would have to question how good you really are, I mean if you have to have everything just so or you cannot win then maybe you need more practice. As Sgt Gunny Highway says "Adapt and Overcome"

All this opinion comes from years as a Moto-X racer where the really good racers overlooked the crap talkers, but displayed their smack talk skills on the track in the form of a nice quiet pounding and then rode off the track knowing his actions and his place on the podium spoke louder than words.

Personally I would like to see a match of all the "Pro" level players fully aliased wearing the same skins etc and see who comes out on top, I imagine the best players (assuming they have played each other for years) would (in short order) figure out who the others are and make their adaptations accordingly and the results wouldnt change much, but I would like to see it.

Oh and for the record I agree with the Dahang decision.

Well - getting bullied around with admin on a public TDM server because I choose to use the alias asdf is bullshit - I think most anyone without bias can agree with that. DaHang did abuse his privillage and if you think he didn't you obviously have a bias for him.

I assume you are replying to me and again assume you are referring to my backing of the Dahang decision which after I read it again it sounds like I support Dahang, that is incorrect, what I meant was I supported the decision to remove his priveleges.

legit name or not, if someone called asdf was shit talking people that are playing, I would remove him just the same. Cause to me, that looks like a name some kid would use to hide behind to cause crap.
