DaHang Abusing his Admin Privillage - Please remove it

Here is just one example that JUST happened of DaHang abusing admin. He kicked me off the team I made because he didn't know of the name I was using - How was this guy made an admin in the first place?

I don't really see this as a serious abuse, since you said 'sure...lol'  Which I'm sure you were just joking about...and he should of known that.  He really shouldn't of taken it unto himself to make that decision for you.  I could see it being worse if he had continously kept sending you to spectator, when you were trying to play.  But yeah, you should be able to play with any name you want, without being harassed about it. (as long as it is appropriate and not someone else's alias)  Who gave dahang any authority?  Cause from what I hear, it doesn't seem like he deserves it.  Seems more like a new play toy to him.

We had a guy who played on vanilla for years under the name alskdjfhg. 

I don't know who "asdf" (MaStA ?) is.  He only seems to play on t1 and t2.  But in the spirit that an accuser shouldn't be anonymous, here are his other aliases:

Anyway, the problem I have with DaHanG's actions here, is that these are general admission servers.  I might consider setting up a couple "noalias" tourney servers.  But on the current servers, "asdf" is correct in saying that playername is not a basis on which admins are allowed to discriminate.  (Except names consisting of racial slurs, or such.)

Hey Console, or anyone who can answer, is there anyway for a client to set the name of any particular ip connected to the server? Just thinking out loud here but I think it could make for an interesting feature. I understand that you can set the default model and skin for user names, but I'd be interested in finding out if you can set the name for a particular user.

I like to name myself what ever I feel like naming myself at the time- that shouldn't be a problem for anyone and if it is, that's your own issue not mine.

 As for Randypants saying that it means someone is hiding something, well, that seems like perhaps that's what he would do if he's hiding something, doesn't apply to everyone.

I don't like using any specific name, I'm not out to prove anything, develop reputation or fame, I just want to play Q2. People like DaHang make that hard to do. He shouldn't have Ref or Admin or anything else. DaHang has always been a trouble maker himself, not sure why anyone thinks he's fit to moderate now. All he does is play favorites and use his Admin/Ref status for his own personal benefit. I wont go into his cheating history since I don't have any demos to post since it was quite a while ago.

Client... set the name... any particular IP.

Not sure I understand.  But if you're asking whether a client could detect the IP of other players on the server, in order to select a static name for the players based on their IP, then no.  The problem is, clients don't get to see the IPs of other players.  An additional problem is, even if clients could see the IP, many players have very dynamic IPs.

You're the first person who's ever posted a condump.  I've reviewed a number of DaHanG's admin decisions, and I've usually agreed with him in principle, even if some of the decisions I've reversed because they went against policy.

I do disagree with DaHanG in this particular case, as I've already stated.  As a result, this morning I already removed DaHanG's admin, temporarily.  However, adminning is just extra work, anyway, done by volunteers who rarely get praise for their efforts.  So he may not be too disappointed to be taking a break.

As far as I'm concerned - the more q2 servers the better!

But I would like to ask how many others feel we have a serious problem with admin "nonsense" behavior on the tourney servers?

As far as DaHang getting his admin removed for this, i would have to disagree with. Quadz, you cannot expect anyone with admin to be 100% fair 100% of the time, such is human nature to be flawed. Dahang, along with many others in the community dislike aliases like 'asdf' = 'MaStA' coming in anoymously and shit talking/hacking/having a generally bad attitude (this may be me stereotyping aliases but this how many people view aliases in q2). Most of the time on tastyspleen if i have captain on my team and there is an alias that joins i immediately kick him from my team. 'Unalias and you can play.' is how i view the whole matter. As i previously stated aliasing usually entails shit talking (or hacking), and anyone who is aliasing and doing neither of these is already stereotyped at least in my mind.

hang is deffinitly abusing his rights as a ref. yesterday he muted me and dinsum as soon as we joined the server and we reconnected to lose mute and he'd just do it again. I 1on1'd kyuss and won ofcourse but hang muted me all game in our 1on1 for absolutley no reason, i couldnt record it cause i had to keep reconnecting but u can check logs if u like, we didnt do shit all. He was just abusing as usual.

There is no reason to need a ref like hang, that's why votekick was made.
