anyone here a TOOL fan?
ive been into these guys for a long time and have enjoyed most of their cds.....aenima being my favoriate....i hear they just released a new cd (been about 4 or 5 years since the last one) and just seeing if anyone has heard it yet....

yeah i always liked tool, but i download music so i dont got the album.
Also i really like NIN. kinda simular in a way.
their new one "only" is kinda neet, first time i heard it didnt like it, but the lyrics made me like it more.

I bought the cd,and I've liked it.It needs relistening and exploring to fully appreciate it.I'd like to say their "single" was good,but the cd display just goes blank and you can't tell when a song stops or starts conventionally,so there is just an unending wall of sound that negotiates its way through loud and hard bits and slow and somber ones. It's definatly worth buying,and get the cd itself:the packaging has real glass lenses that you can see a bunch of 3d art with.

10,000 days blows my mind every time i listen to it. The rythyms they use are wack. I friggin love that album. Them and mastodon are the most talented new rock bands.

The only thing I will give tool is that the drums are pretty crazy for just one drummer, not that it's a compliment. Talented??

I dunno if Josh Freeze is still the drummer for the vandals but it's rare that you see a punk drummer being that versatile.

Fuck off. They've got more musical talent than every member of H.I.M. combined. They are arguably the most talented popular band out there.

Maybe compared to alot of the newer bands out these days, but that isnt saying much.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. If you had any musical literacy you would realize how innovative and complex their music is. Just cuz they get airplay doesn't mean they've got no talent.

Tool might be talented compared to some pop-punk band, but its not saying much. The guitar work is sub par, and I dont get what the big deal is about the drummer? He uses triggers on his drums, which automatically makes him weaksauce. If you want to hear a real drummer check out Dave Lombardo (hes on all the 80s slayer albums, and testaments 'the gathering' album from 1999.) Hes a monster, plain and simple. Danny carrey doesnt even got the stamina to keep up with the shit he does on drums.

But tool is not talented, and their rhythms arent wack. Theres this band called Death, where their songs jump all over the place from a measure in 6/4 time, then one in 7/8 and back to 6/4. That is complex, and they have good solos also. Tool = gay

n0ctuary, I have to give you credit for at least responding with the typical nonsense argument that every tool fan uses. I hate tool more than 95% of bands out today just because all of their fans seem to think they are the greatest musicians to ever walk this earth (which honestly couldn't be any farther from the truth). Then if someone actually understands what REAL music is and says their music is talentless bullshit we just "don't get it". How clever! Yes their music is clearly above us! For instance look at a small segment of one of their songs.

I can see how that would seem stunning to someone that just picked up a guitar 2 days ago. I don't care what time signature a band uses, if the riffs suck and the music is boring it DOES NOT make a difference.
