This is probably in the wrong thread but ahwell. I just wanted to know if anyone has some good sites for computer parts? I'm making a computer soon so I need to scope out some parts. Give me some feedback please.

I hear that all of tigerdirects items are refurbished and or defective.  Even things that are marked at retail are refurbished.  Alot of people also have had problems with the rebate system, which is what makes the prices soo low.  Alot of people don't even see a rebate.  look them up on bbb.com  Theres alot of complaints.  Also, shipping has come damaged/lost/extremely late.  I ordered the last PC i built from scratch from newegg, and I did get a good deal.  I would of gotten a much better deal at tigerdirect, but I'd rather have something retail and non refurbished if I'm going to only have soo long to return it, and if the rebate isn't going to be fullfilled.  I had a 1.6 Ghz AMD, with 1GB RAM, 754 Mobo, 256MB vidcard, case w/ power. and it ended up at around 250$ before shipping.

the video card i use now. a Geforce 6600 GT

no problems at all with it, except thr fan burnt out within 2 months =/

Hm.. if you want a machine truly built well, and out of quality parts, I would recommend http://monarchcomputer.com.  Their customer service is very friendly - you'll speak to a person who knows their stuff within seconds if you call.  They offer only top-notch parts and components, they perform a proper burn-in and test for you, and their wiring jobs are extremely tidy.

Unless, of course, you get some enjoyment out of slapping the parts together yourself.. which can be fun the first few times.  Having built, troubleshooted, upgraded or repaired dozens upon dozens of boxes myself over the past 14 years.. it gets old, heh.

I agree.  I did have intermittent problems with a bare-bones Asus machine from Monarch, but it was a rather obscure problem not related to their work.

  I highly recommend dealing with Newegg or TigerDirect.  I've assembled my last two machines using both of the aforementioned vendors.  My only gripe would be that Tiger's packing seems a little suspect.  Everything has always arrived fine but I think they could do a better job with ensuring safe transit.  I've included a pic of my current system which consists of an AMD 3700 + San Diego Core, GigaByte MOBO 1 Gig of OCZ 3200 Ram, ATI 850 XP VC and other stuff...
