High ping on tourney 4?

Lately I have had high ping on tourney 4.  I would just assume it was me, except I've talked to a few other players having this exact same issue.  I used to ping around 20, now it's more like 120.  My ping on all other servers has not changed.

Most players do not seem to be affected.  Is there anything on the server side that could be causing this?

That's strange.  Could you post some traceroutes?  We might be able to spot where the lag is occurring.

Yes, thanks, it does.  Wow.  That is not what I was expecting to see.  Lag on the very last hop.

I'll pass this info on to the server owner.  Hope we can get it fixed soon.

Thanks.  I have had connection issues in the past, but there were several reasons why this time I thought it might have something to do with server.

1. Its only that server.
2. A few other people have said the same thing has been happening to them on that server only.

It does seem to go back down to 20s after peak hours.

Usually my ping on tourney4 is below 20. Yesterday it was all over the place...from 18 to 26. Do you expect me to be able to play with this kind of unstability?

- BadBrent: your traceroute looks fine.
- naymlis: Doh! I bet you tracerouted it after I accidentally shut the server down (I *meant* to reboot it instead, in hopes of fixing the ping times).

Well, this morning we got my local wireless connection fixed, so I'm now able to provide a reliable traceroute to my server provider should the pings get high again.
How's it been doing, by the way?

majik: no, it does that everytime i traceroute it.. console asked me to do it a month or so ago (maybe 2) and it did the same thing :\

Hmm... apparently the router at hop 5 doesn't like ICMP echo requests.  Microsoft tracert uses ICMP echo rather than UDP like j00nix traceroute.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  But I wonder if a UDP traceroute would get past hop 5 in your route....
