kicked twice

help. I've been kicked twice in two days, no wait, this last time makes it three.
It says I have an illegal client, but nothing has changed AND I don't cheat. If it helps any I was playing yesterday at 2/3/o5 between 12 noon and 12:30, today I was playing from around 10 am to 10:40. Tried to summon console both times but they were apparently asleep at the wheel  :shock:

Said I had a modified client. Get I get some help here!?

Are you running normal q2, 3.20?  Or some type of modified client?

Same old max 3.20. Haven't changed anything. Could this be spybot or virus related?

My guess is given your ping your being kicked for "exceeding the speed limit", aka speed hack.  The new q2admin thinks you are running one when you lag out then zip like a speed hack real fast.  Is it happening when you lag?

Max Lead Foot...busted!  It's pretty bad if lagging gets you dumped.  

I have seen people, though, that all of the sudden dart off while they were barely moving before.  Makes me look like an idiot shooting at someone's dust...heheh.

yeah, I could see the lag thing, except that this just started happening and I have been playing for more than five years. There has to be some other reason, unless something in the game's configeration has changed recently.
Also, why is it saying I'm using an illegal client?

It probably assumes from the lag/speed up that it is a speedhack client, hence the illegal client message. They could be in the process of tweaking it or something, I don't know for sure though.

Max, I am pretty sure that the server has had an update to its q2admin not that long ago, which is why the problem just started.  Console am I correct here?  And by seeing you as a "speeder" it assumes you have an illegal client.

I'm not being snotty or anything here but is this a windows thing? As Eye and others can attest I often reach 1000+ ping then back down to 30-50 almost immediately. It's frustrating as heck, but what the heck - if I played for any other reason than I like it Id've quit a long time ago.... Oh. the reason I ask is because I'm running Linux and have never experienced that....

As far as I know it has nothing to do with what OS you run, it happens if you lag for a period of time then zip across a map, does that happen to you?  If not you could ping 2000 and not get kicked.  But these are guesses on my part, maybe console will clear this up for us soon.
