powerups on TS-DM

How come the power-ups are not on the DM server anymore?   :(
So few people on there already, are you trying to keep everyone off of it?

As if having no powerups is the cause of an empty DM server ;). I guess it's just because most people want to play more maps that's all. But to answer the question all you have to do is vote powerups on again, eg: mymap (q2dmx) +pu 
After the mapchange the powerups will stay on until someone else does a -pu vote again.

I had no idea the +* RLPs had a permanent effect on DM, either, since on Mutant and Vanilla they work on a per-map basis.

Yeah I've already forgotten.  I think we changed it to work that way as an experiment, the last time the subject of powerups on the dm server came up.

The DM server definitely started out with quad on:
http://tastyspleen.net/quake/forums/index.php?topic=727.0

I can't find the thread now, but, I'm pretty sure some folks started clamoring for being able to turn quad off, so I tried out the "sticky" mymap settings.  If you want it back on, just mymap it, and it will stay on... (Until someone turns it off.)

If that's not working out, I can certainly make it back to +pu by default.

If I play there, I generally only go for 1 or 2 games, if i mymap it, i have to miss out on it for a game, to wait for it to come on :(

I'm not AGAINST -pu, but in general, if there are more than 6 players, it is nice to have it on.
some of the maps are designed for this balance.

Well.. since I can't find the thread that lead to trying out the "sticky" mymap flags, I've turned +pu back on by default.

You can still mymap -pu ... but it will only last for the specified map.

If the power-ups are there the map should go by quicker by hitting the fraglimit faster, hence more maps.
... because most people want to play more maps, as in: play on a server that runs more than just dm1-8.

Ok so now by default it's:
spawnprotect=off
quad=on

What's next, Force respawn=on?, that will make the maps go by even quicker and create more balance.

You mean specifically on vanilla?  I started out with low delays on vanilla, and kept raising them as griefers tried to exploit the +ia as much as possible.  I kept raising the limit, over a period of a few weeks, until I stopped hearing a lot of complaints.

Dunno what the ultimate answer is, but it didn't get raised up to its current interval by accident.   :dohdohdoh:
