Your router has a factory reset button on the backside next to the power in socket. This will restore it to factory defaults, which will mean no password.

The complete manual for that router is here in pdf format.

ok, i was able to get in with setting the password blank :)
i looked trhough it all, its set up for dhcp, its setup for dynamic ips

it seems to be able to see my computers, and has given them ips
but it still cant connect =/ i thought it might be a dns problem too
but im really not sure how i would fix that

get the documenation for the router!
it will tell you how to log in, after you reset it to defaults, then the setup should be easy
if your lazy, try admin no password
admin password,
admin - admin etc

sorry didn't read the last posts.
if your connected through the router to an ip address, check the gui, and see what it's status is for your connection to the internet.  troubleshoot it from there, it should be set to get an address dynamically itself.
I don't have much experience with these types of routers, but you either, tell your router to be a dhcp server for your LAN, and tell it what dns to give out through dhcp
or the router gets dhcp on the cable side, and gives whatever it gets in for dns servers to the LAN
so ..
check what the router is getting on the cable side first, if you don't have connectivity
it sounds like you are alreayd getting a dhcp address, so i would checkthere

its not telling me whether its connected or not, it just looks like it has found my co,puters that are connected to and gave them ips
so im sure dhcp is working

but not dns... i was asked to give a dns server and host name for my isp but i dont know what they are
my isp doesnt give stuff like that out

what would a a crossover cable to the cable modem be for? :)

you don't need to ask anything to your isp
if your get an ip on your computer it doesn't mean you are connected to the internet, your router is giving you that ip
you need to look at the gui, and look at the connection on the internet side and see what's up.  my guess is it's not working : )
if you see it's not working, then you know the problem and can fix it
my guess is it's related to physical cabling, or the configuration is set to static addressing and not dynamic

i think it's best you look at the lights on the connection to the cable modem, and see if you have a "link" light on both ends. a green light, and there is activity that it's blinking.  if not you need to use a crossover cable : )
if you have proper physical connectivity, the green lighting, and the blinking, then make sure the router is set to get an address dynamically from your isp

here is some thing i've been trying to figure out for some time
I don't know why you need different cables, always seemed weird, it has something to do with the elecontrics of the ethernet ports.  on DS1 (T1) signalling WAN connetions there are reasons for this,  one side is DTE, and one side is DCE, and the function differently.  they tell the other end of the signal drops etc.  I never understood why they designed hardware to use different cabling on ethernet, when there aren't any reasons they can't make the circuitry function the same with one type of cable - meaning there is no need for a DTE DCE type specification

Let me get this right, your router is giving your pcs the ips thru dhcp from what you can see, but you cannot connect to the net? Then I would have to say it is a DNS problem.  Go back into your router and add the dns ips.

If you dont know them, it dosnt matter which ones you use. I use the dns from my work isp for my home network

try these,  should work for you too

Holy jumpin - all this tech stuff to set up a network? I bought my router maybe 4 months ago and it was simplicity itself to set up. The no-name router cost 20 bucks and was bought locally in my home town. I just plugged it in to my main cable and used ordinary network cables to connect the PC's together. It said to run the software once for each PC and that's all. My 2 desktops still run Win98. I recently bought a laptop that had Win XP and it sensed the connection by itself. All 3 PC's connect fine to the internet and each other. I have never touched any settings at all. Never a call to my ISP (Rogers Cable). Here'a pic Xtife:
