Brightskins for Quake 2..?

Not sure if this is okay with the userbase. The qw community uses it and Quake 4 has them. Is it okay to use them in Quake 2 because it is kinda dark after all...

Its still debated whether its acceptable or not. Some view them as cheats since it isnt brought about by a command from the console. Which seems to be the "loose" rule on whether something is a cheat or not. i use them, i feel they reduce fatigue as the biggest factor. i'd also suggest modifying the light as most have done also. Play with "gl_modulate", and "intensity".
i'll include my config for some command examples.

I use them also , not for trying to gain a advantage , but it's horrible on the eyes trying to see the defult q2 skins in open gl . I dunt really care what people say about em unless they want to pay for my vision insurance
Moding skins is basicly harmless , moding models , sounds , dlls etc... = cheats . imho

Nothing wrong with being able to see you opponent. I don't consider brightskins a cheat.

One other thing. I don't know too much about the Quake 2 mp scene but is there like a pro port kind of like FuhQuake only for Quake 2 that lets me force skins and has fullbright features and such?
