Now im not one to whine about ping, but 400+ is a bit too much lol, can you see whats wrong? i'm stumped, for some reason at some point in the week, or more often, my ping shoots upto around 400 +, browsing speed slows like hell and IRC tends to disconnect / reconnect / disconnect etc, its happened the last 30 minutes although IRC hasnt disconnected yet.

Wired lol, routers given me no trouble since i've had it, though it is connected by USB, which some frown upon
I think I got it from seans filesource site, but this hud is one he picked out for me and gave me with some sounds I needed, probably from your pak though anyways.

The ping jump from uk to us looks good (195-270). Considering you go through 9 hops after entering the us, I'd say the 40ms ping increase to the server is also normal. That's just an approximate 115ms increase from the UK to the server, right ? On the other hand, you are already at 195ms before leaving your own country.
Do you have any past tracerts to compare with ? Wonder if your route has changed.

Dont have any saved, but beforehand, i've tracerouted to tastyspleen.net, and outcome was my normal ping, I usually ping around 110 - 130.. I connect to the east servers with normal ping (tourney4, jumpmod) and all gators servers(euro 1, 2, 3, WOD) with normal ping, its just those others like mutant and such. It always was around 25 hops when I trcrted though

In the first tracert (the bad one), uk.above.net in the UK is the start of the problem and only gets worse at us.above.net on the USA side. The second tracert (good one) does not go though
above.net
. I think it's safe to say that this is where your problem lies. Anyone disagree ?

I concur with Art:
12 24 ms 23 ms 22 ms core1-pos13-1.ealing.ukcore.bt.net [62.6.196.238]
13
24 ms 23 ms 22 ms core1-pos4-0.telehouse.ukcore.bt.net
[194.74.65.113]
14
190 ms 187 ms 189 ms ge3-0.pr1.lhr1.uk.above.net
[195.66.224.76]
15 187 ms 187 ms 183 ms pos3-0.mpr1.lhr1.uk.above.net [208.184.231.69]
There is a problem with the border routers between bt.net and above.net.
I'm not sure we can say for sure whether the congestion is on the bt.net end or the above.net end, meaning I think it might be possible the bt.net link to above.net is saturated and so the bt.net router (#13) is responding to pings fast itself, but is experiencing delays trying to stuff packets into a full pipe toward above.net. Or, it could be the above.net router (#14) receiving the packets from bt.net is somehow fux0red.
But i think we can be pretty certain it's either router #13 or #14 . . .
Regards,
